You know, this just gave me an idea.

When I was in college, we made a four-storey yard of ale. This basically involved a standard yard glass, big metal funnel, and a garden hose. The principles behind its operation are probably self-explanatory, and not entirely disanalogous to the concept of drinking from a firehose. What I can't adequately describe here is the 'oh-shit-here-it-comes-no-wait-not-yet' air of anticipation and trepidation while air is displaced out of the hose (with accompanying sounds) before the beer makes it to the other end.

Now imagine the same idea only making use of the Rivera's greater height. Sure, the liquid's only going to move at the same speed, but the increases in volume possible with greater hose length could add a new dimension to the game.

We'll also need a disclaimer to hand to the participants: "Not to be used as a substitute for bathing or showering."

Edit: I called the Riviera. They didn't have exact figures to hand, but estimated the height of the main tower at around 230 to 250 feet. This could be interesting.

22109.68 gram -> 48.7435164 pounds

[MAX,MIN] = [19.695743 pounds, 48.7435164 pounds]
The actual MAX could be much higher, since hoses are not rigid, but often expand with pressure. Assuming the hose, nozzle, seals at linkages don't burst or break as a result of the weight of the hose+fluid, the bottom part of the hose would have enough pressure to expand the internal diameter of the bottom of the hose even more to allow a greater volume of booze, which adds more weight and pressure, and may increase the volume a little more, which will...

There is a limit. It depends on the strength of the hose, the humidity (maybe) and the temperature.

If this happens, someone get it on video.

I did similar math, and got results that were pretty close to that. You're not the only one who was surprised.

True, and remember also that the entire inner volume of the hose won't be filled - just whatever capacity gets poured into it and comes barreling down.

I had also thought about doing a beer shower or sprayer using this method, but that probably wouldn't be as entertaining.

Already inspected and priced out hoses this afternoon; just figuring out how best to do it.

Now how about filling a barrel full of dr pepper and dropping a coffee can of Mentos into a tiny hole in the top? Can we make a fountain to reach the top of the tower?

Actually, I think where this is going is: will Alcohol separate from the beer (water) if it is going at a high enough velocity? And if so, how do we seperate the alcohol as it comes down the tube?
