    Those kids are terrorist!
They don't kill people, they kill their time. Thus making the parents spend more time on their computers, less time on their kids...
The kids will grow up with far less attention and love than they need, and they will turn to cracking - at best - if not turning into skiddies themselves. Our whole society on earth will be undermined and at the end, it'll lead to our doom. Want to save the world?

This was a dramatic and joking reply, but has some slightly serious points.

As for Myspace, I think it will be like a plague on our youth. Amittedly, I have an account myself as an easy way to keep intouch with some out of state friends but some of these peoples are fools. So many kids these days seem to have no self esteem because we've become so PC oriented that they have to do some thing to fit in or noone will like them. Life will be so hard if the cool kids don't like me. "So let's do something illegal and post pictures up and write blogs about. That will be cool... What do you mean I can get in trouble for this?" It's sad but I think it will only get worse.

The funny part about the kid that changed the grades on MSword or whatever app. it could have been is that he probably stole the password from his teacher (Most teachers use some pretty simplistic passwords...As well as Administrators in some/most districts..) and had the chance to do something stupid. With all the effort he put in to changing his(and others grades) grades he could have taken the time to learn something.

    Re: Recently Arrested.

Recently (well, two months ago) there was a story in my country.

19 high-school students/pupils "hacked into one of their school's office computers and changed their grades. Unfortunately, their crime was discovered and most of the students expelled."

That's what shoves dirt on *our* name and pride as hackers... They ain't hackers.
Just because they where able to change some msword-file.
I mean... they were 19 people, and they weren't even able to get into the computer and change their grades without getting caught? They must be more than stupid. Go do your homework before messing with other people's computers! Guess someone in their "group" found a skiddie-program and showed it to the others. Have they ever produced something themselves? I'm frustrated and angry about it.

Like minded, perhaps we will have a chance in vegas. Of course that would put you at risk of listening to me rant while drinking. very risky. Very very.

On another additional note I wanted to add how funny this sounds to me
"rather aggressive online criminal gang that goes by the name "m00p."

    Also from article:
According to a story on the Times of London's Web site, the trio included a 63-year-old from England, a 28-year-old from Scotland and a 19-year-old from Finland."

    And from this one:
According to another source of mine close to the investigation reported in the Times, the 63-year-old English suspect is not himself part of m00p, but allegedly rented resources from the younger suspects -- both believed to be m00p members, the source said -- to conduct massive junk e-mail campaigns. The Englishman also is suspected of buying databases of people possibly interested in what he had for sale.

    Anywho, just adding more.

    Re: Recently Arrested.

Sony took it hard in the class action suit. Unfortunately it won't have the same effect on their bottom line since most people will take the additional free downloads in leiu of the cash payment.

Criminal indictments of corporations are actually quite rare. The best example would be the indictmet and conviction of the Andersen Accounting firm in the wake of Enron. Now, I could go on a rant for hours about this...probably more suited for an environment where I have an adult beverage in my hand.

At any rate, the criminal conviciton of Andersen was later overturned however the business was destroyed along with hundreds of jobs. The risk to employees is extremely high considering the number of people within the organization who are actually culpable for the criminal conduct. It's a big risk for an attorney general to take considering fines are the only penalty for a criminally convicted corporation.

    started a topic Recently Arrested.

    Recently Arrested.

I was thinking, What is the harm of having a Recently arrested thread? I get a fair amount of "hacker + arrested" news alerts, some of them are interesting and creative crimes, some are down right funny or just lame. It would nice if anyone else wanted to contribute to the list of recently "obtained for questioning " talented or talentless individuals.

Police Hold 3 in spam trojen bust/ uses sony's rootkit for exploit

There are more out there, I just dont have the time right now, perhaps later i will link them :-) Please feel free to contribute.
Working...
