Your selection is limited, alot of fast food in the casinos, some scattered within a 1/2 block.
There are a few restaurants nearby.

Theres some type of Japanese/Korean (Ging-Seng Bar-B-Que & a Steak) place next to Riviera
(Ive never eaten at them, but they smelt good)

    Steak House
2880 Las Vegas Blvd S , Las Vegas, NV
    Phone - (702) 734-0410
    0.07 miles away

    Ging-Seng Bar-B-Que
2975 Las Vegas Blvd S , Las Vegas, NV
    Phone - (702) 735-2050
    0.21 miles away

    Restaurant Type: Korean restaurant

    King Sushi Corporation
3000 Las Vegas Blvd S , Las Vegas, NV
    Phone - (702) 696-0606
    0.26 miles away

    Restaurant Type: Japanese

Theres a Thai restaurant down on the corner of Sahara and LVBD (strip) that has decent food.
    (Ive eaten there).

    House of Thai
210 W Sahara Ave, Las Vegas, NV (0.53 miles away)
    702-388-9923

Theres 2 McDonalds the food court inside the Riviera (A&W/KFC Express, Pizza Hut Express, Jade Dragon, Quizno's Subs, Cheesesteaks Etc., La Salsa Mexican Cantina) the resturaunts inside Circus, which arent too great.. a Pizzaria & Krispy Kreme downstairs. 99 cent 1/2lb chili dogs across the street at Slots of Fun.
Nobel Romans Pizza at Slots of Fun. Theres an Arbys a 1/4 block down.

Thats pretty much everything within 1/4 mile of Riviera.

In addition to my list, heres a link that lists everything near Riviera

Pizza, sugar (Krispy Kreme) and cheap chili dogs, all that is missing is alcohol but I am sure there is plenty of that to be found close by as well! Beware of anyone asking you to pull their finger.

Please tell me more about this Thai place and what "decent" means to you. One region's "decent" is another region's "ugh!" Does "medium" make a seasoned spice person tear up? Is it legal to order "very mild" or is it americanized thai food which is still good?

I'm not sure exactly where, around the Luxor, there are some awesome buffets for around $5-7 (lobster, steak, pizza, salads, almost anything you can think of)
I think those are pretty good deals.

Isn't "Chalupa" Spanish for "Oily Canoe" ?

Seriously though, it has been mentioned elsehwere that the Riv has a food court, I think it also has other places to eat and according to a map, a buffet of sorts.

By using the "web controlled cameras" on the stratosphere, you can see there is at least one fast food place (McDonald's) across the street, and I think a Denny's and maybe a subway shop south of the Riv a block or two. There may be more, if you look further south.

              Enjoy!

** Hey! Who broke the stratosphere web cam!?
Heh. Looks like they are down for maintenance at the moment.

Well, I havent eaten at that resturaunt in 2 years, I dont remember what the spicyness of the food was. it was pretty tame from what I remember.
I eat at alot of thai restaurants, and my opinion of them is pretty picky. I usually find that one place makes something better than anyone else, while another place serves a different item that is really good.. I think I actually ordered something non-thai that visit (strawberry glazed chicken) or something.

Last Year I walked 1/2 mile from Sahara to "Lotus of Siam" which was rated one of the best Thai restaurants in Vegas/ and the best in North America...
I had the Pad Se Ewe, and I think I ordered an 8/10 spicy and it had alot of flavor, it was moderatly spicy.. It wasnt the best
Pad Se Ewe Ive eevr had though.

(Vegas supposedly has over 40 thai resaurants) Alot of them offer buffets also. The food TV channel actually did a special about all the Thai food in Vegas..

Thai House is very close to Riviera, the food from what I remember was good. Id say its worth trying,

Everyone Raves about Lotus of Siam, Maybe I should try it again, I was sadly dissapointed.
But I see I wasnt the only one.
However all these people were happy
Its kinda hidden, in a small strip mall 2 blocks off the strip.

One gourmet chef named it "BEST THAI IN NORTH AMERICA" They offer a lunch buffet $5.99.

Well, the Peppermill has good prices, large portions and really tacky old Vegas decor, which makes it a winner in my book! http://www.peppermilllasvegas.com/

Also, the Riv has Nickletown, in the nickle slot area. They have stuff like $1 hot dogs, pizza and beer. I haven't eaten there, so I can't say if it's any good.

indeed cotman, you've translated the essence of the eating experience, but i think there may be hidden costs upon exit.
If a chicken and a half, can lay an egg and a half, in a day and a half... how long would it take a monkey, with a wooden leg, to kick the seeds out of a dill pickle?

Forget the restaurants, go for the buffets!

Of course overtime you'll get sick of it but it'll have served you alot more.
