Can someone tell me if it is far from the airport to the strip.

    Can someone tell me if it is far from the airport to the strip.

    I am going to be arriving at the las airport on thursday morning at 8:00am. I bought a hotel and flight package. Im just curious if anyone knows how far it is from the airport to the strip and if I could walk it or if not could someone give me a ride?

    I am fully capable of walking long distances but would still just like to know.

    If you would like to pick me up I am willing to share my room at the sahara.

    Im going by myself with nothing but a backpack and my old pos laptop mainly for notes. This is my first defcon and I refuse to let anything stand in my way lol.

    i wouldn't recommend walking from mccarran airport to the strip. it'd be a few miles by my estimate. the AP was closer to LAS than the Riv and no one walked even then i think. cab rides are so cheap... plus, depending on when you arrive you're likely to see a ton of other hacker types... ask them if they're going to defcon. if they are, split a cab. you'll be out all of like 5 dollars or so.

      Thats what I figured I just thought cabs were more expensive then that. Thanks for the reply.

        I walked it whenever I flew, and I can say from experience that the airport is not pedestrian friendly. You will probably find yourself cutting through grass and crossing busy roads without lights.

        Getting to the Riviera? I wouldn't even try it. Hell, I wouldn't even want to walk the crowded length of the strip carrying luggage.

          I'd take the bus, $5.00 fo an all day pass if I remember right.

          Since you want to "walk" the Deuce doesn't go that far from the airport. But I believe rt 109 will take you from the airport to the south transit station where you can catch the deuce.

            Thanks for all the info. I'll probably just catch a cab or maybe the bus since they have a bus system here and I'm no stranger to it. Though our price for a day pass is half vegas but such is life right?

            Im still not sure what Im going to do when I get there but Im usually pretty good at find fun things to do. I had just heard it is really hot there but not a humid heat like it is here is Dallas, TX. I really just cant wait to get there.

            I picked the Sahara because I knew it was close to the Riviera for a map I had found online and it showed I could walk it. But it also showed that the airport wasnt that far either.

            Anyway I have just one more day of work before I leave. I just cant wait...Grrr work.

              Working tomorrow.. yeah right. I will be day dreaming and getting the last minute details together. Dont know why I am even going in tomorrow.

                The 24 hour or day pass is a good deal for 5 bucks (exact change only), but stay away from the Duce unless you like being surrounded by tourists.

                From the airport, the local CAT bus Route 108 Paradise will take you directly to the back entrance of the Riviera for a $1.25 (exact change only).
                Get off at the Hilton, walk across Paradise Road and you're there.

                At the airport, the CAT bus stop is on the "lower level".
                Go to the baggage claim area and ask for directions.

                  I'v walked from BlackHat to the Alexis Park, it is good exercise and if you have nothing else to do for an hour, sure, walk it. But it is only a few bucks for a cab and you get to spend most of that hour with your friends, think about that!
