    Pool sit-in?

So i heard a mention of a pool sit-in at 10:00pm. Aparantly, much like myself, many people are upset about the pool closing at 7:00pm. This is probably due to the fact that previously, the pools were a point of much enjoyment for all.

So I, and my friends, will be at the pool at 10:00pm. Bring yourselves, and we will see what happens. Maybe if the hotel realizes that 85% of their current guests would like the pool open, they will attempt to please us.

Anyway, hope to see you there!

You know that if you purchased your room on a credit card, there is a clause about not being happy with the merchants services, and that you can dispute.

Every other year we made very liberal use of the pools during all hours of the con, and I dont think that its fair personally to treat us like a bunch of 6 year olds. If you feel strongly that this is something making you unhappy, and the hotel will not correct the issue, then dispute the charge. If you as a consumer are not getting the service you need and the hotel will not provide it for their guests who have requested this (and a sizeable amount have requested they correct this) then your credit card company will be happy to dispute and credit you a portion or all of your stay.

Maybe someone should point this out to them gently....... This is all in the fine print of most if not all credit cards, especially american express.

I think you may have truble claiming it back on your credit card.
I assume the pool is part of the spa? Which is advertised on the site, and shows the opening hours. You have had the chance to check this before you booked and have obviously been happy as you were willing to hand over your card details to be charged.
Unless you specifically mentioned it at the time of booking, or it has changed since then I dont think you will have much of a case.

You can always ask for it to extended, which they may do, but I think asking for a refund is unlikely.

Contrary to your belief, I was given no problems making the dispute.

The pool is part of the hotel according to my banks card department and after telling them the scene from last night, security really harassing some people, refusing to give us access to hotel resources after there are major complaints, and really generally giving us bad customer service. (it doesnt take 6-8 security guards to move some peaceful people sitting outside, did they really have to get bothered?) they agreed that I am better off taking my chances with a dispute.

Anyone else do anything about them?

If you charge back a stay at the Riviera on your card, they'll ban you from renting rooms there in the future. Considering that Defcon is likely to be at the Riviera for some time, it seems to me as though this isn't a wise move if you wish to attend future Defcon shows.

Then again, there is always the Circus Circus across the street. Do some ether before wandering over there, Hunter S. Thompson style!

I really felt that there was no cool area for everyone to converge on after hours (other then the penthouse floor). Maybe next year it would be possible to have the pool closed off for defcon after hours i.e. no non-defconites. It would be nice to have an outdoor shaded pool area. Even more odd, the pool closed when the sun was still up....wtf....this is sin city right?

Considering the level of suspicion that the Riv staff had for us, I had no expectation that the pool would be opened specially for us. Maybe next year there could be some negotiations for it, but there are so many more factors at play when we're at such a large hotel.

Any lifeguard certified goons out there? I'd need to renew my cert.

I have been told that the reason the pool is closed at night is because it has no lighting. So protesting won't do much good.

Not that there was much better lighting at the AP.

If this is the lame excuse I get to hear from them...I will bring some bigass flood lights, wire them up, and bam, pool time.

I heard there might be a pool on the roof (that will be open)....

(would that not be awesome?!) (long as nobody makes it "leak")

It already leaks, that's why it's closed.

Not a goon. but I am certified as both a life guard and a divemaster, as well as being certed as a rescue diver. Think that would be a help?
