... as awsome as these idea's sound, the problem with this is issue is
    a) if there was a SURE fire way of keeping underaged kids out of 21 and over area's other clubs and such would be using it by know i asure you

    b) its defcon. as soon as there is a security messure of any kind in place, SOMBODY will hack it :P

heh i dont think its a question of actuly stoping kids from drinking, i think its just a matter of makeing the hotell "think" that were trying our best :P

Its all about perception. If they think everything is ok, then everything is ok.

The solution to this is to just keep drinks out of black and white those under age can have somewhere to chill. If the private parties have to card, at least people have a place to kick it and are not kicked to the curb.

There's a ton of loose ends I am very curious about as well and don't have any answers to. I will see if I can find out some info for next year's ball, assuming of course, one is still in place.

Having to produce an ID repeatedly to several people at Defcon didnt ultimately please me..

The whole shutting down of everything sucked even more.
Especially after everyone complied with everything demanded of them.

There hadnt been a bar or anything at previous Black & White Balls had there?
If there was I didnt notice it..

heh, yes there was a bar... it was part of the "all of defcon bar" since back at the AP it seemed like everything and everywhere alcohol was either served or freely available. i can recall either purchasing drinks or obtaining them by some other means at the B&W for DC10... i can recall sitting at the table with them. was that actually a "black and white ball" back then, however, or was it just the "dj action room"?

in any case, comparison of previous years with the riv breaks down somewhat due to the whole new world of policy that a gambling casino places us in... i wish for the freedoms and loose atmosphere of the alexis park sometimes. the riv is a nice upgrade in a lot of ways, however. i find myself leaning one way and then the other with respect to the hotel switch issue.

"I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

There was a bar in the outside area that was just outside of the B/W Ball room, like right after the Goons carded you for your badge. I remember this, cuz one day I was a little on the smashed side and asked one of the bartenders for a bottle opener to open my beer I'd brought in. They almost had someone throw me out. Not one of my better moments in my life, but it sure was funny.

              >"dj action room"?

              Hey all righty!
