you should be able to use [ and ] around the word "pics=" followed by the image number to reference an photo/image on pics.defcon.org.

Example:

https://pics.defcon.org/showphoto.php?photo=132&cat=517

photo=132 in the url, says that this could be referenced with [ and "pics=132" and ] some description here and then [ and "/pics" and ]

Hah! Someone recently posted [pics=153]picture of one of Lost's Mystery Boxes[/pics] but it looks like someone "hacked it" ... with an axe. :-)
