So what are the thoughts of having a lab contest. I know that sounds strange but a computer lab contest. People could send picutes and we could a DC group judge them. I would just like to see what kind of creative people that are out there.
GOD:
Art thou not sorry for these heinous deeds?
Shanker:
ON Ay, that I had not done a thousand more.
Even now I curse the day--and yet, I think,
Few come within the compass of my curse,--
Wherein I did not some notorious ill,
As kill a man, or else devise his death,
Ravish a maid,
I'm not really sure what you mean by a lab contest - could you elaborate more on what you mean will happen? Do you mean that it would be a photography contest, or is it some type of network setup contest?
Sorry i should have been more clear on my idea. Yes it is a contest where people send picutres of there computer networks or Labs in and then they are judged. the winner with the most creative lab. wins.

I think that's a great idea, however I would also start some sort of a hardware hacking contest.

I'd say you need to think this through more.
o Who are the judges?
o What are the rules (i.e. creative to one person is just messy and disporganized to another)?
o What is it that you mean when you say "creative" (provide examples)?
o Send pictures where? Who validates them?
o Is there a prize?
I'd suggest that you invite people to upload to the Defcon pix site (https://pics.defcon.org/), or perhaps Flickr, rather than worrying about a contest. I have multiple shots over several years of several computer labs, but I doubt much that they'd qualify as "creative" in your eyes. On the other hand, I doubt that I'd post any of them.

If this is submitted to those in charge of (1) the contest room, (2) contest updates on the main DC15 webpage, and (3) those in charge of the the program for DC15 (I know this is not up yet and is a bit off) we can make a discussion forum for this contest and a new section/album on pics.defcon.org for this contest (if images would be uploaded and judged/reviewed there.)
Some work can be done to provide the links to a forum/pics-space before the contest is submitted, if you are sure you will be running this contest, but leave the spaces unactivated. Once the contest appeared as a link from the main site, then the forum and pics spaces could be activated.
With exception to contests/events that have appeared in the new orums contests/events subforums, if a contest is not linked from what will be the main page for each Defcon (ie, Defcon 15) we won't have a subforum for that event or contest.
If there is a contest/event linked from the main page for a Defcon, *and* the contest/event is one that seems likely to have discussion, then we can create a subforum for it. (Some examples of subforums that probably won't have much discussion: night at the movies with DT, Artwork Contest, Defcon Around the World. If we see threads of discussion for these, we can easily make subforums for these.)
Yeah, because there haven't been any hardware hacking contests >:)

Comments:
1) A Contest/Event Subforum can be added to the Defcon forums, and the threads moved into it, with this one forked off.
2) A new section can be added to https://pics.defcon.org/ to allow for people to store pictures there (if you would prefer) and it has a built-in voting system for any and all present forum members.
If you would prefer to have the images stored on your server, a URL can be added to a subforum descroption here. If you would prefer discussion of the contest to take place on any forum your DCG is running, then a "pseudo-subforum" can be created here with a link that takes them to your site's discussion.
The only requirement to keeping the Contest/Event subforum is that you submit the contest when the call for contest info for the DC15 program and website, too.
Please let me know by PM or thread reply, if any of the above is desired.
