Defcon on Jeopardy!

Watch Jeopardy! this Friday, Jan. 5, 2007.

I finally got my big chance to go on the show, and during my mid-game banter with Alex Trebek after the first commercial break, I got to mention Defcon.

They ask you ahead of time for a number of talking points, but you never know what Alex is going to pull.

I think I said something along the lines of how it was our team's goal to qualify for CTF (I called it the world championship of hacking) at this year's Defcon...

No, I cannot divulge the outcome of the J! game ahead of time, and I did not get a chance to bet $1337, but I had a fun time. w00t!!

Wouldn't the value depend on which direction you started counting from, if the thumb were not included?

I can see how that would work if you stared from the pinkie-finger, or started with the thumb as one.

LOL! No, but the guys were trying to get me to put down something crazy if I had a huge lead going into Final Jeopardy...something like, "WHAT IS: SNAPE KILLED DUMBLEDORE?" I won't say if I got the opportunity...

Last night, they had the category of "Tech Support". I almost died when I saw them taping that show (they do a whole week of shows in a day, and I was waiting patiently for my name to be randomly drawn). I was desperately hoping for "Symmetric block ciphers" or "Rootkits", but alas...at least, there were a few Q's that went my way...

w00t! I just got home from work and checked it out. Quite cool.

Also the first time I've watched Jeopardy in .. 10 years? Damn Alex is getting old! They're preserving hm pretty well, but his growing senility is quite humorous. Is is just me, or have questions/competition gotten insanely more difficult? .. or maybe I'm that much more braindead ... I remember being able to answer a lot more questions as a kid.. also remember much more unanswered or incorrectly answered questions, people screwing up format, etc. You all were impressive,
