    Re: Defcon on Jeopardy!

oh, damn. I'm not up to date on my Jeopardy show times, and must have missed it. Thats one of the downsides to not having a tv (although I rarely watch tv). Hopefully someone will put up a torrent of it. And yea, I'd say it's an auto-shoo-in for Hacker Jeopardy at the next DC. I was actually pretty proud of myself, I knew a lot of the answers in the first one he was one. I'm pretty surprised no one got the 1984 “It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen” opening thing. Anyway, can't wait to see the next one!

With more thanks to the unnamed tivo bandit for grabbing and forwarding this, for those that missed it.
Thanks again. Rough time on the buzzer tonight. Chris seemed to keep getting in ahead of me. Also, I didn't get in on any of the Daily Doubles which were all pretty easy. Oh well, I still had a blast, and I have heard from people I hadn't talked to in years!

      14:57 ... 14:58 ... 14:59 ... My 15 minutes are officially UP!

Would someone mind seeding the Jan 8th episode for a little while. I've been sitting at 42% for a week and I wanted to get it finished off. Thanks!

Oh, I thought it was me doing something wrong.

I got the Jan 1st episode pretty quick, and then 8th was going along fine but it stopped, I don't see any seeders...

Odd... I've never stopped seeding. Checking the tracker than was 1 seed, 1 peer, 0 transfer on the file from my host. Waited a few seconds and looked back, found a second peer had joined and started pulling some 80-90KB/s from that particular torrent, .. now as I type this I note that the second peer has disappeared and transfer has dropped to nothing with the remaining peer sitting idle. .. very odd.

Is your client connectable? I know my firewall rules are still good, but the client I use has acted wonky with this since crossover .. I suspect it may not be accepting connections as desired, but openly offers out to connectable clients as it otherwise sits idle...

I must have been much closer to finished than 42%. I looked once and nothing, I looked back a few minutes later and its done and seeding now. Very strange. I'll keep seeding both...

The Jan 01 episode came through quickly, but the Jan 08 is stuck at about 60%, and has been for over a week. The program reports 3 peers and 1 seed, but the log shows timeouts while contacting the tracker. I'm assuming it's your server c0n; the IP ends in 153.

Not being a big torrent user, and admittedly knowing little about it, I've thought it was some misconfiguration on my end, either with the application or the firewall. But I've not quite figured out why some things come through, and others hang.

I can confirm at least one set of timeouts was due to application segfault, known local issue, not attack. A shorter, more recent set of timeouts would be due to the maintenance performed to correct the latter sets of app segfaults. Thusfar it appears to have worked .. but I'll wait it out say, another month before I make that full determination.

TheCotMan was kind enough to give me some pointers on settings for torrents via PM. Despite my following his instructions, nothing worked last night. When I restarted it this morning about 11:50 EST, it immediately kicked in, found three peers and downloaded. While it continued to have some occasional tracker timeouts, the Jan08 episode still downloaded in about an hour.

Here's a link to a non-torrent full up version a friend was kind enough to share: http://24.73.39.250/jeopardy
But it will only be up there for a couple of days.
