Re: Boston Versus ATHF
What would you guys be saying if someone planted a real bomb in a neighborhood and it was ignored by the authorities until it went off?
Do you really expect any different given the post 9/11 environment?
I've personally seen IEDs that were less complicated then these devices.
Did the authorities over-react? Perhaps, but to me it seems better than not reacting at all.

On the other side of things considering those things have been in place for two weeks 2-3 weeks and they're just getting noticed. I'd fire that damn marketing firm they really suck however now they're getting noticed what's the saying any publicity is good publicity.
I saw this picture of it on MSNBC and it look s a tad bit more menacing with that pack of stuff strapped onto the front of it they should have hid the pack behind the board.

I remember the same thing happened to Microsoft when they scattered thousands of MSN butterflies onto New York City streets. These cute "viral advertising" campaigns have blown up before. IBM learned this same lesson the hard way back around 1999. They had a whole series of imaged of Tux spray painted on sidewalks and buildings as part of IBM's Linux push. Fines and paying for cleaning in a half dozen cities killed it quickly.Leave a comment:

Re: Boston Versus ATHF
I can think af at least three state/local charges that could potentially result in an arrest on this: Vandalism, Improper signage/advertising w/o permit, Disorderly Conduct. It all depends on how the laws are written there, and the actual elements of the crime under those laws. And that isn't even mentioning the various federal laws that fall under the Patriot Act.
Billboards, are usually governed by a permit system, so that argument doesn't really hold. That's assuming they are even legal in a given area. Billboard are illegal statewide where I live, so yes, someone putting up a billboard would be arrested here.

"Yeah, we like to smoke while we shoot the bird!" LolZ
People seriously need to lighten up. This insane reaction is just indicative of how susceptible people have become to political fear tactics.Leave a comment:

Re: Boston Versus ATHF
Well, maybe they can if they are not authorized to post in those public areas- similar to the "post no bills" laws. I don't know if they can arrest them legally or not, they could have just detained some guy and they hyped it up as arrested.Leave a comment:

I'd like to know how they can arrested someone if nothing illegal was done. Are we going to start arresting people who put up billboards now?Leave a comment:

Re: Boston Versus ATHF
MSNBC is reporting that one person has been arrested. They also have a better picture of one of the signs in place on a building.
And they aren't on eBay. Yet.
Edit: According to the NBC News video, the BPD Bomb Squad blew up some of the devices before BPD was contacted by Turner Broadcasting.Last edited by Thorn; January 31, 2007, 17:05.Leave a comment:

Re: Boston Versus ATHF
I thought so too. It looks like a light bright. I would take one look at this thing and if anything, id be fearful i may step on it in the middle of the night. (But then again, I can tell its not dangerous by looking at it, and i recognize ATHF.)
I was waiting for that, I'm looking forward for them to show pictures of the devices with the censor bar or it blurred out.
I wish I had found one of them here. I bet you the prices are sky high on Ebay for those lil "F-bombs".( I couldn't resist ) If not already, they will be there.Leave a comment:

Yeah i remember seeing this on the news i know most people won't think so but i thought it was pretty funny. I mean not only was it there for a nice long time but cartoon network made a statement and they showed it on the news [sarcasm]damn thing looks pretty dangerous to me with those 4 batteries and all those leds and what would happen if those capacitors blew up some one might get oil on their window.[/sarcasm] Actually I'm surprised people aren't complaining because it's flipping the bird.Leave a comment:

You think they overreacted, or it was the right thing to do? Also, they are reported to have been in place for 2-3 weeks already. Slow reaction on the publics part? Opinions?Tags: None
