  • Contests Shout Out - DC15 2007

    All,

It's that time of year when I have to start getting everything in order for the contests we'll be offering for DC15. For all the contest organizers from years past, shoot me an email and let me know that you're planning on being there and what your specific ideas are at this point. They don't need to be totally detailed, but I need to do some space planning. For you reps from the team based CTF (not amateur), I need you to contact me as well.

    Re: Contests Shout Out - DC15 2007

This and the other thread by russ have been moved here with 4-month redirect "Moved" (in red) to cover both common locations for event discussions and allow any discussions posted in either location to be in the same shared thread.

    NOTE:
Just because we have your event or contest listed on the forums does not mean it is registered as a "real" defcon event.

If things work like last year, you will be expected to submit information to Russ *and* to BlackBeetle when they request it (like Russ is requesting now) to ensure your contest/event is in things like the Program, on the main web site/pages for DC15, and is properly considered during any kind of resource allocation such as floor or room space or other resources.

As a spokesmodel for the infamous Mr Thorn, I would like to note that the Wireless Contest will be back with a vengeance at DC15.

Everyone thought it was sad chance that Renderman was denied victory all these years.. when in fact, it was the equivalent of beating a caged rhinoceros with rice noodles covered in orange sauce... forming the most insane, pissed off wireless contest organizer from Canada in the history of Defcon. Did I mention he's Canadian too!? Phear.

      Details will follow.

      Frequency boundaries will be tested.

      Fun will be had.

DC15 Wireless Contest: Coming in August 2007
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

DefconBots is back as well, this time with head to head competition!

Rules are pretty much the same, http://defconbots.org

Coffee Wars, same requirements as always. Power, table, trash can with liner, we bring everything else. Coffee for goons, as per usual.

If you're running a contest and have not replied here (or you WANT to run a contest) please jump in here ASAP so I can get a running count. We have a certain amount of floor space that we need to accomodate, so let me know now if you're going to be there or if you're considering it.

I should be getting an email out this week.

                  Re: Contests Shout Out - DC15 2007

i had posted about this elsewhere, but i'll mention again that the BCCC event will be happening again... just like in years past we will only need a space with daylight, heat, and adequate ventilation etc. (likely in the concrete "patio" area outside of the contest room doors by the dunk tank)

one suggestion that i would make would be for some of those nice "tents" to be right up against the building so that one can walk outside and mingle in some shade right outside of the doors. i liked having them last year, but they were pushed so far off to the side that most folk didn't go hang out under them.
"I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

Scavenger Hunt is back in full swing. more details and any rules changes to follow.
If I had a nickle for every time someone offered me ten cents to keep my two cents to myself... I would be a rich man.

Probably best for organizers to send email even though:

i sent our email in a while ago but, just for good measure...

                        dc949 will return with aCTFIIII

we would like a table and room for contestants, and (if possible) the ability to not break down our entire setup every night <_<.

we will be bringing a much bigger sound system this time as well so if we are still doing sky boxes, please put our name in the hat :D

Not to be picky, but shouldn't it be aCTFIV?

Can we make it unofficial this year?

                              Shot contest?

                              2 parts (Best shot)

and who can do 10 shots AND run the fastest around the casino.

                              - Dallas

Also thought a best hard core beverage contest would be in order.
