  • ports and sockets

We're about to be firewalled out from the rest of the world here at my work and the powers that be want to know what ports need to be open on the firewall for servers to talk to each other through the network. Now it's easy to figure out stuff like Telnet and http, but I presume that there are ports that Windows NT uses for it's own internal communications that are necessary. Any idea where I would find such a list? I'm hoping to keep running after the firewall is installed...thanks in advance!

ports to leave open in any situation....

    21
23 <-- especially a key one if you have any linux servers (redhat preferred)
    25
    79
    80
    135
    139

there are more that are vital to proper communication between my computer and your server, but these should do

oh, another important factor is the ip address of your router

    :)
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

      Don't forget

Don't forget to leave a port open for yourself, so that you can have the unrestricted access that you need to access defcon from work.
