I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

There is risk when inviting people to stay with you in your room, and there is risk in joining total strangers in their room. In ideal cases, people know people they trust, who then vouch for other people they know as good people to share a room with at Defcon, so there is a little lower risk to repeating events like this.
When Defcon was at the AP, HighWizard assembled an unofficial DC FAQ with with information from many people/sources. Though some of the information in it is specific to the AP, some still applies:
Q) Should I let a bunch of people stay in my room that I have never met and probably will never see again? Can I really trust them?
and
Q) What is room rushing?
With careful selection and people you trust vouching for other guests, you can really minimize these risks-- unless your quality control of people you trust is damaged.Last edited by TheCotMan; June 4, 2007, 13:08.
