When do badges go on sale for 24?

With the Thursday morning Raspberry Pi/Kali workshop started at 10am instead of 9am, will it still be 4-hours long? (hope so, this is a lot to do in even 4 hours and I really hope to be able to finish the project during the workshop!)

Any yes anything you can send out to people who signed up for the workshop in advance (such as what to bring or install), it everyone shows up with everything already installed on their laptop that will probably save a decent amount of time at the start.

As far as I know and have read, there were 9am classes 4 hours long, but the start was moved to 10am. There were 2pm afternoon classes. If the 2pm classes start time is still 2pm, then there will almost certainly be a slight reduction in the full 4 hours for morning classes, since by the squeeze theory, 10am start for morning classes and 2pm start for afternoon classes, where the afternoon classes use the same space, 10am to 2pm would be exactly 4 hour, but time to clear each room and prep for the next class can't be zero, so time must be consumed. If we assume the 2:00pm start start for afternoon classes remains unchanged, time must be subtracted from the end of the 10am-2pm 4 hour period to allow for change-over. How much time? I do not know. I would bet 5 to 15 minutes.

If the start time for morning remains 10am, and the start time for afternoon remains 2pm, assume that the 10am classes will not get a full 4 hours.

This kind of request would be something for instructors like Dallas to answer, or another instructor if you plan on taking a different class. I would suggest contacting the person running the class you plan to attend, and contact them directly, not in a thread-post in the forums. A PM, or email or DM/tweet would probably work better, as these prompt notification of issue, instead of hoping the person polls the thread-post often enough to see your request. Encourage them to post such information publicly so all may benefit from the answers.

Well hopefully they find a way for both classes to be 4 hours. Maybe 10am-2pm, and 2:30pm-6:30pm (allows for 30 minutes between classes)

Really I wish they would have just left a 9am start time. Get in line early enough to get a badge by 9am or else have a goon escort people with workshop tickets into the workshop (or if possible, to the front of the line to get a badge)

Currently planning a 6am start Thrusday, so hopefully if all goes well you'll have plenty of time to make a 10am workshop.

We've been a bit busy and plan to update the workshop page ASAP.

Thursday Workshops will start at 10am.
First block will start 10 and go to 2.
Break 2 to 3pm. (There's only the hour break on thursday only for the instructors who are teaching back to back classes. )
Second block 3 to 7.

Friday & Saturday will stay the same 10 to 2 and 2 to 6.

If the workshop that you want has filled up before you got there, don't worry! Just like last year, if you come to the workshop area early the day of, you can wait in the standby line. If a seat opens up, it will be made available to the first person waiting to claim it.

I am confused seems badges are for workshops open at 7 am but no where could I find when registration opens to pay the $249. I am trying to process which line to get in seems the workshops are my first goal, second is paying the 249$ after I get my badges.

This was going to be my plan of action since I recall workshops filling up quite fast last year. I can have a friend grab a badge for me at the same time he gets his while I queue up early for workshop registration. Of course, this only works if badges aren't required to register for a workshop.

Until Nikita replies, assuming she is checking the forums while as con, since few people do, here are some educated guesses:

Last year, on *Thursday* much of the area in Bally's where the "Cafe Arcade" is located (see the map, Bally's side, a partition of the "Grand Ballroom" room called "Gold" https://defcon.org/images/defcon-24/dc-24-fp-final.png ) did not require DEF CON badges to access. The Contests/Events space, and vendor space will probably be closed on Thursday.

By Friday, all of that space on the Bally's side (probably in the hallway near the "1057" room) will probably be DEF CON badge controlled.

From this, I would guess for Thursday, Workshop *registration* is probably outside a badge-controlled space, but assuming you are able to get registered without a badge, what would be the point of being registered if you can't gain access to the workshop without a badge?

Unless things change, even if you are able to register for a workshop without a badge, you will need a DEF CON badge to get to the workshop space.

Because of this, it probably does not matter if a DEF CON badge is needed or not to register, if you need one to attend a workshop; would you pay to register for a workshop you can't gain access to and then demand a refund?

I was hoping to queue early for workshop registration to ensure I got a spot, while a friend got our badges in the badge line at the same time. This isn't possible if badges are needed to reserve workshop spaces.

If it was like last year, most of of the rooms on the Bally's side will be closed on Thursday, and if that is true, and most doors are closed and locked, then they may not have badge controls to get to Cafe Arcade for workshop reg and only workshop reg. Thing may be different this year, though, so this is just a best guess until you get an authoritative answer.
