Not so far. I've been putting a lot of thought into how to spend it so as to not stimulate the economy in any way. Either that or put it towards getting fixed so I can't contribute to the capitalist pyramid scheme pedigree that is our consumer base.

I know the government was doing the direct deposit between about May 2nd (i think) and may 22nd for the people who did direct deposit on their tax returns.

just curious if any of it showed up yet.

One word student loans; crumble; crumble. My economic stimulus is going to stimulate the banks interest towards my student loans.

Student loans should either be flat fee, or no interest, or interest only if you default. Banks make a lot of money in this country and they should only be too happy to help students out. As long as it's paid back I don't see why they need to reap such a whirlwind.

Student loans suck. Really that is all I have to say about them. Oh, and I'll be in debt to them for years to come!

Yeah, I've been on the student loans bandwagon for a while now. But the end is in sight. The biggest payment one ends in ~2 years and then a little while longer for the second.

I worked for Fafsa/student aid at one point and man that was a terrible job. Nothing better then telling 100 would be college students daily that nope they dont get money to better themselves, to better the economy.
I'm sorry your GPA is 4.0 and Harvard has exepted you last minute so no scholorships where available, but we can't give you a pell grant because your parents wer'nt dirt poor and the student loans you can get will only buy you a school book and a half used pencil.

Oh yeah Stimulis checks, that was the topic once. I dont qualify.
Now question, couldnt the government had just taken all that money and purchased like stuff for schools or something and stimulated the economy the same way? I mean money being circulated is money being circulated.

Xor, My student loans were over $13,000. Got the Army (read: your tax dollars) to pay of $12,000 of it.

I am scheduled to get $300 since I earned over whatever it is, $4,000, and have no taxable income. So basically this is not a refund, it is OPM, or wealth redistribution.

Now next year you have to pay more taxes in order to make sure everyone gets their $600. Sigh.

It's not like we had a surplus. This is supposed to stimulate the economy? Since houses are in the toilet and no one can afford to max out their plastic we are supposed to go spend this money on stuff?

Buy American? Right.

But I'm not sure that's enough to put up with the extra grief of having extra wives.

Too bad you don't get extra money for making stupid comments, you'd be stimulated into a new tax bracket.

Rebate checks? I'm still waiting on my two $40 digital converter box discounts from my ol' Uncle. Another multi-billion dollar social welfare program. Could even be called socialized government subsidized TV! Guess the Vice Pres, House, and Senate feel sorry for all those poor guys still sucking a signal via rabbit ears.

This has been proven not to work time and time again. Money is not the problem with our schools but rather people are the problem when students, parents, and teachers lack sincere long term commitment to learning. Actually it's also been proven that individuals really do know what best to spend this sort of money on.

BTW, TV is more of a school problem than money ever was. That's why the U.S. Gov't wants to make sure all the poor kids families get converters so they don't miss American Idol.
