This is the main thing that concerned me- I have many clients who specifically request XP on custom builds and it's likely that business would take a minor downturn. Then again, since all retail stores have stopped selling XP systems also, my only competition would be local stores that have stockpiled copies, and used machines off of ebay.

For myself, I actually am okay with Vista. I didn't end up downgrading the laptop I recently purchased- as I've said before, bitch slap Vista around enough and it runs okay.

      three little letters... O, E, & M.

i don't think i've done a proper, licensed install of WinXP on a box in over 5 years.

NOTE - i'm not talking about outright piracy here... i simply have an arrangement with all of my clients wherein i will install a box any way that they wish, then i remind them that to be legal, they have to acquire a license for X, Y, and Z (i give them a list of any non-freeware products and/or operating systems they are running.)

most of them prefer to just eBay or google search for people selling old Windows licenses (some of them have even bought in bulk) and keep them stuck in a drawer somewhere. and i love that i don't have to fuss with managing product keys, etc. the exact same OEM iso image works for me, time and time again. i've even custom-edited it so that it stays current with patches and other updates.

I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."
