Yes he was. And while we are clearing the air. Asshole threw a can out of a window from a room on the 11th floor, not the Top 'o the Riv.

I'm getting tired of hearing it was my room, or the ball room.

And the thread that covered the Asshole incident brought the truth of which room it really was. The actual story (thread) can be referenced and cited, and the facts of the story exist in perpetuity to squash rumors like those you describe above, and make sure history is not rewritten by gossips. Testimony of people in their posts provides a record of claims so that attempts by people to change their story can be questioned, and give opportunity to evaluate the quality of fact-checking by new sources that provide information that contradicts what was originally posted.

So, now, you can point those that accuse you and your room, or the ballroom to that thread and set them straight and then let them know they need to check their facts more carefully.

That conflicts with many observations over the years.. the current 'scene' seems to thrive on drama. This thread is a *great* and entertaining example.

Maybe she made mistakes. I can't speak to it because I wasn't there and never even met her, but her posts on here while occasionally a bit contradictory don't come off nearly as batshit insane as some of our regular posters.

I think it's funny that some folks are giving her a hard time for lying about things when many of us hide behind a shroud of anonymity and could basically be spewing any amount of bullshit and no one would ever know. Even I my talk I had to 'hide' who I did the work for. Did that make me a liar? Was I being deceptive? I guess it depends on your particular views.

Honestly, I don't give a fuck if she was there to "work" or not. If not, she came to the con to enjoy the con because she was interested. If so, she certainly wasn't the only girl working the Riv during that time. Either way, who gives a shit.

Faye...I think Dallas is right. If you want to come back, come back. Be yourself. Who gives a fuck what you do to make ends meet. I think it's funny that to our attendees you thought being an escort was more respectable that being a Fed. That said, if your post above was true and you took a shower every day at your hotel then you were ahead of a good number of the stinky fuckers I was walking past.

Unstinky escorts are better than stinky non-escorts every day of the week in my opinion.

She looks pretty cute from the myspace pic, if she really was working then she shouldn't have had a problem finding a buyer at defcon; though the aforementioned price seems pretty steep.

To Faye, from my perspective:

Faye (or whatever your name might be), I observed several things that happened at the EFF gig between you and others. Then you glommed on to me at the HP party until I could off load your ample little butt onto other people. I was nice to you because that is my general nature; however, you were lucky I was in one of my kinder moods. I initially thought you were one of the entertainers brought in, but when I considered your whole aspect I knew that I was wrong about that. You were just a rather benign random crazy.

I am also the nice person who gave you the respectable moniker for the "software consulting" you stated you do. That was Monday night by the pool. I knew you were lying, but as Chris said, lots of people spew bullshit, and I was not so interested in you that it mattered to me.

What did matter to me is the drama you perpetrated at Quark's, which, other than my observation of you at the EFF and HP party, are really the only things I witnessed. I don't know if you are so much a drama queen as an attention whore. However, I would suggest you get over it and come back next year and be yourself, whoever that might be. Never know, people may even actually like the real you. And you may actually get interested in all the cerebral cyber-candy served up, rather than being manipulative and petty.

There are people that did give out other people's numbers at DefCon, and they got yelled at appropriately later on. It was awesome.

That being said, Faye or whatever her name may be, did walk up to the stage after the ending ceremonies and was asking people "high" in the DefCon community to please spread the fact that she is not a fed and she was whining that people were saying she was a fed. It seemed all a little strange that she felt like asking random people to vouch for her when these same people did not know who she was.

I've been going for years, single and not. Never had any real problems with anyone. I don't think I'm special. Single women are generally very welcome, DC used to be a real sausage party.

Your behavior was odd at best. I wasn't around for all of it, but the stuff I was witness to was enough to raise a few red flags.

oh so it was you who had me followed when I tried to go back to my hotel? wow. and people call me a drama queen. I was trying to go home but couldnt because I was being followed. I made a call and was told to rejoin the party. Really, what was I doing to you? nothing... but thanks for using me to check your beef with the entire crowd you seemed to have pissed off at you. But really...Im not worried about the embarrassment you caused, karma will eventually bite you in the ass in the end.

Anyway. I checked with security the next morning before hitting the casino, and they didnt have a problem with me coming back. and honestly if I was an escort trying to work vegas, dont you think you would have found some ads for vegas? But that was really weak trapping me at the Riv until you got hotel security ...but like I said, I checked with them the next day before entering the casino and they are now wise to you using them in your game.

Woah now, hold the phone. Plenty females come to con (for the first time even) without an "acting bf" (as opposed to a non-acting boyfriend?) or group of friends. I was terrified I would be considered a scene whore my first con, since I had no real knowledge, but was seeking knowledge.

I had one rather odd incident when I first got to con, but I had no drama, no people calling me crazy or a liar and the only folks who mistook me for eye candy (read: something to rub up against) were scenewhores themselves.

I've been to 5 cons now and I've not had half the problems you've thus far run into. It's been said many many times that "con is what you make it." I've had fantastic cons and annoying cons and the variable every time was ME. Getting crappy behaviour from multiple people? Examine yourself first. It's surprising how much you can change another's reaction based on how you interact with them.

Also, if you've made a mistake, there's no harm in that. We all fuck up and this community is especially good at recognizing and accepting that fact. It's all about taking a breath and manning up to it. However, as great at this community is about accepting a mistake, we are extra harsh on folks who refuse to admit a mistake and take any consequences related to that mistake. We also value honesty a great deal, though some may see it as an odd juxtaposition with using handles (not really a deception) and keeping some of your activities secret.

Welcome to Defcon where folks may either have your back, or kick the crap out of you, depending on what it is you need. Anybody can coddle you - it takes a real friend to slap you when you're making an ass out of yourself.
