    No more Splash Bar?!



    IT'S GONE! First Quark's then the Splash Bar? Say it ain't so!

    Apparently they were closed down for rampant health code violations.

    I'd say I spent a good 25% - 50% of my time at the last con at the Splash Bar and had some great discussions with random and not-so-random people there.

    What will we do now?!

              I'm thinking if they leave it empty, we just station El Jefe there with a foam cooler.

                      As popular as I think Jefe would be as a bartender, we'd run a high risk of him drinking the entire "barstock" dry.

                              Unknown. An acquaintance of mine is going to be out that direction on business this weekend, and said he'll try to look into it. Watch this space.

                                  While several people I've spoken with make the same observation, we should note that the Riv closed it own -- not the health department, at least according to the criteria listed on that website. And their reasoning might not have had anything to do with health at all -- look at all the other laces on that list with nasty health violations that are still open.

                                          I am finding evidence that they are planning on "replacing" the Slash Bar with an updated facility.
                                          Hopefully this is true.
