porsche sets first and second gears to far to the left on the shift panel (I've had friends try and use 3 as 1 and so on, almost lost a trans that way) but they stay nice and tight after much use.

another good stick to teach with/learn on is a ford escort newer ones are better as they hold some of the tension as the age.

We were rough on cars at the carwash. We were all driving sticks that we had never tried before.

Basically, check the pattern, slam the stick to the left and up, give it a good amount of gas, and engage the clutch just enough to get you where you need to go. Over-rev was better than killing it from the customer's POV (because they could see us kill it, but not hear us rev it). The really fun ones where the funny foreign econo-box cars (people bring them in before selling them), with no tach. For those you just have to trust that being that kind of car, they have a tough tranny, so you just rev the sucker til you like the way it feels, then go.

Drinks can get pricey at the con a beer was what like 3 bucks last year and drinks were what like 3 for 10 or something. When you look like I do you need all the drunk women around that you can get. (Beer goggles help them not to get the gag reflex when they look at me.)

Heh, that was more of an explanation of how we didn't have a problem with starting the porshes in third, and some whining about inconsequential crap that we put up with.

I know how people are with teaching on their cars. Right now I'm working on a friend to let me learn to ride on his bike.

Here's the one I was thinking of. This one is really simple in the fact that you simply reverse the "weighting" diagonally. In other words, exchange the 1 and 16, the 6 and 11, the 4 and 13, the 7 and 10. Just switch the heavy's with the opposite light's.

I guess there's more solutions than I thought!

As far as sticks, I can drive one, but I spend too much time in the car now adays and have gotten lazy.
