Indeed you will be missed, my friend. I think i'll have to create a special category called the "renderman award" that specifically honors creative and humorous bending of the rules.
"I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

As opposed to my blatent rule bending and breaking of years? I'd be honored to have that as a category.

I figure it's about time to make my official declaration: after watching and wanting to enter for a few years now, I have finally put something together. Well, it will be together before I have to get on the plane.

lovely! can't wait to see what everyone creates this time around.

i'm still waiting for the year that a Mythbuster shows up to watch. heh, with Adam in town this time, maybe we could all cross our fingers?

Is electricity provided, or should the contraptions run without it?
I was under the impression that in previous years, there was no electricity, and the rules didn't say anything one way or the other.

Do not expect access to power, if you need electricity expect to bring your own.
Same goes if you need a table to sit the apparatus on as well.

                Good luck. :)

I may be back for another round (after representing DC702 for so many years). It will depend on how much equipment I can fit on my bike.

I tried to contact DC702, once, but it didn't end up going anywhere. Are you still in vegas?

no, sorry. I moved to San Diego in Feb.

You might want to try Vegas 2.0. DC702 was pretty hard to hold together since Vegas is so transient.

oh, man... i am teh fail about team names... so you weren't officially repping the 702? i figured that it was a more privacy-sensitive name than just calling you Bryan. great, great work showing up this year, and bringing a contraption on your Cannonball Run winning bike.

so... were you there? i had such an influx of teams... seven, in all.

great work on your part... you two actually had the second-best cooling (narrowly beating He-Brew's rate by one tenth of a degree per second) but the slightly salty beer early on is what nudged you down to third place. still... wickedly awesome performance overall, and i hope that you return.

extra special thanks to Rhenium as always for her bringing such a supply of mad scientist chemicals as well as being a great collaborative force... consistently you always are there, offering advice and suggestions as teams begin to kick around their thoughts for next time.

that, plus your wicked awesome reagent bottles that you tagged up... bloody brilliant.

thank you to everyone who came out, who participated, and who drank. we had a little more sophistication this year, with somewhat better timing, etc... next year, it will be even more on the ball. i'm going to have one (if not two) dedicated thermometers for each team, a better record keeping methodology, and enough primed beers to make sure there's not a moment of down time when someone's ready to make a run.

full results being written up and will be posted soon... hopefully somehow before i leave for PlumberCon.

Unfortunately, I wasn't. I had figured out what I wanted to do, but it required welding, or at least cutting and joining pieces of metal.
I have no welding experience, no welding equipment, don't know anyone in Vegas who does, and was busy enough in the pre-con couple of weeks that I couldn't take the time to learn it.

                                Next year, perhaps!
