You know what would be cool, would be if the dates for Defcon included thursday, or made mention of special presentations, demonstrations, and mini-classes.

Right now it says

17 will be held July 31 - August 2, 2009, at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas! Admission is $120 USD at the door.

Maybe a parenthetical comment about July 30, or some note about some special presentations and events starting on July 30 might cause people to better plan their travel times.
Additionally, those lucky bastards that get work to pay for it will be able to say, "see? It start on Thursday, so I need you to pay for an extra hotel day!"

We have been updating the site recently. I wanted to post to this the current lineup. There may be one or two more events being held and you can see more info about these and future Thursday events on the Defcon page.

Yeah, no kidding. I've had my hotel room and flight booked since DC17 was announced. Can't change the ticket without a penalty now, and it would have been nice to arrive since there' s more than DC101 on Thurs now.

At least my flight gets in early Thurs morning.

Thanks be to Buddha I am in early on Thursday. This is my third con but I have never gone to the "fun" events so I will have to go to the 101. Thanks for all the info

This will be my first DC, and should go to DC101, but don't want to miss the black magic talk (scheduled simultaneously) Will the info from 101 be available by some other means?

Nope.. If you miss the talk, you miss out.
