I'm all for silly holidays, but when they fall on ones that actually matter*, they tend to lose their effectiveness.

Damn those crazy Brits and their insensitivity to people of America!

Seriously though, it is hard to find a day in the year where some group, somewhere hasn't claimed it as their own day for whatever reason. Heck, in the US, there are claim for national WHATEVER month, every month of the year. That pretty much locks up every day of every month of every year with something in the US.

What's interesting is that the aforementioned Towel Day is not on the list.

Hmmmm towels, flags, perhaps it's a DIVINE SIGN!!!!!! If only he had left a sandal behind(is there more than one way to spell sandal, sandle?) It worked for L. Ron Hubbard.

Yes. I need to find the locker room used by my congressman; is it still normal to snap *towels* in locker rooms? I'm armed, and good to go! :-)

Agreed, although with my heart being heavy over the lost veterans in my family, a little levity is nice.

Besides, Memorial Day shouldn't be today, it should be the 31 May, dammit! The same with Veterans Day. It should be 11 November. Neither of them are there to make a nice long weekend for the populace, they are their to remember those who fought for the rest of us.

That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said about me

O another note, I didn't mean to detract from Memorial day (It's not a holiday here in Canada), just the fact that it was Towel Day and remember Douglas Adams as well.
