For those seeking access to the Interwebz at DC17 this year...
Attendees: It's all WiFi (802.11a/b). Turn on your local firewalls, patch your OS d'jour, surf, baby, surf.
Contest Organizers: Please make sure to submit your network needs to Russ early!
Vendors: If you need network or phone connections, let Chris know early, too, please.
Speakers: If you need something special setup (e.g. more than just a regular ethernet connection) - let me or AgentX know ASAP, please.
Remember: by the time we land in Vegas, we have the gear we have (save for the occasional Fry's-run). We'll strive to do our best to accommodate everyone's needs, but there's only so many fibre runs, so many GBIC's, and so many switches available.
And then...
We're putting together something I'm calling the "DCNET Interactive Session." Time/Date/Place TBA. We've largely kept the DefCon network a trade-secret for years. Last year we opened up the NOC to Wired for a peek inside. This year we figured it was time to embrace the "open source mentality" and have a sort of peer-review of the DefCon network. This allows YOU to actually see what's happening behind the scenes and also have the chance to contribute to the overall design potentially.
In fact I'll be taking suggestions on what you expect out of the session, too! Speak up, let me know and I'll try to address it in the session.
Otherwise...
Have any questions, issues, concerns, about using the DefCon Network, just drop me a line.
