    Tourney Registration Open!

    Team and individual registration for the TF2 tourney is now open.

    Also, we will have one of the Capri rooms for the entire weekend. This means we can support more teams and have open play throughout the weekend as well.

    As far as signup goes, we think it will fill up pretty quickly, so get your teams together now and head on over. We'll be having qualifiers in late June/early July to set team rankings. The qualifiers are not required, but if you don't participate, you will be ranked lower than any team that does participate. That means in the first round you'll be up against the better teams to start. So if you don't want to face the pain, you should play in the quals.

      That name could get cumbersome next year. Defcon 18 TF2 Tournament 2: Electric Attack on Curly's Gold (d18ctf2b for short).

      What about an ad-hoc team for the tournament? People (including those that don't monitor the forums) looking to wind down a little could wander in, take a seat for some amount of time, and have a nice at-con cathartic experience. I suppose this could be a suggestion for a team leader who'd like to run with the idea (not necessarily a suggestion for the organizers). Unless the ad-hoc team is completely destroyed, the show would be an interesting look at how a comfortable team fairs against skilled players that aren't familiar with each other.

          You can register as an individual and if we get enough individuals (ie: >8) I think we'll start making teams out of them. At the very least, you should reg if you're interested in playing.

          Also, at shmoocon when we ran this, we had some ppl that didn't show up to play with their team, so we filled in those slots with whoever was standing around in the room.

          And we should have enough non-tourney time that there will be open play at various points throughout the day. Non-competitive, but still lots of fragging for those looking to blow off steam.
