  • novelty shotgun rounds

since more than one person has asked me about this over email and the like, maybe i'll just start a thread on it...

are any people bringing shotguns to the DC Shoot? those who are, have you ever fired -- or would you care to fire -- novelty shotgun rounds like Dragon's Breath or DoorBuster / Shock Lock rounds, etc etc?

If people want to try this out, post here and coordinate your ammo and ideas beforehand. Heh, if you can find a way to do it safely, i think that using the sintered zinc powder rounds against an array of locks like they did on MythBuster would make some cool video. And if the lighting were right, i've always wondered what a Dragon's Breath round would look like. (if it's all hype or not)

I'm not bringing any of the 12 gauge steel with me this time around, but if you folk are... well... i'll let you talk about it here.

I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

Shooting those 'Dragons Breath' rounds in the desert would go down as one of the dumbest ideas ever. Remember what your pal Frankenstein says..fire's bad, kids..

Rounds like Dragon's Breath are not something you want to shoot through a weapon you care about. They make cleaning your weapon very hard... even with soaking in KG or M-Pro.

I loaned a Remington 1100 to a "friend" to go duck hunting... came back to me after 5 Dragons were fired ... said he opted not to hunt that trip and went to the desert to "have fun". Took me hours to clean that weapon.

      Lock busters... anytime!

        Howdy, all.

My Saiga 12 is in storage up in Reno, so I've got my five AGP ten-round mags down here in Vegas with me. If someone's bringing their Saiga, let me know and I'll go buy a case or two of shells to throw into the mags for shits and giggles.

Also, if anyone has a kel-tec P11, mine's in a safety-deposit box in Miami, so my 357 Sig conversion kit is available to test-shoot in case you always wanted to know what it would be like. I hope your wrists are good and strong.

        NOBODY/ydobon

P.S.- I'm sure I've got some other hardware around here, too.... Do switchblades count?

A friend of mine has a Saiga 12. He may be coming, but it is currently unconfirmed.

The most "novelty" I have is a bunch of Brenneke Special Forces short magnum slugs. Sorry, don't have anything more fun than that...

Current fire danger in Vegas is "Extreme" so Dragon's Breath are probably not such a great idea lol. Shame really, I've always wanted to see something like that...

I guess with the fire danger being "extreme" during defcon, that kind of rules out tannerite for next year.

tannerite isn't really incendiary, i believe. still, for reasons that noid pointed out, it's not likely the best idea.

Tannerite is a binary explosive. 99.9% of the reaction occurs within milliseconds. Chances of fire are slim, but the chances of attraction unwanted attention are almost a sure thing.

The entire time we were shooting, we had LE driving by. Sure wouln't want one to ask me what I am up to!
