Re: Beer Cooling at DEFCON 18

We'll have to see what Deviant Ollam thinks of dsc's handywork before doing this for sure. I talked to dsc about it yesterday (before his art session) and we were trying to decide how many shirts would be appropriate to order. I'm not sure how many people attend the BCCC. dsc would need to update his Word Art to include "contraption" in the title.

We also had another colleague working on a more "refined" piece of artwork, but I'm not sure he's going to finish it. He had artist block -- or some crazy shit like that.... :-) If he does, I'll post it here for comparison.

    Thats art.

Vector art is best, but if its rasterized, full size is needed.
Probably going on a black shirt...

Here' s one from my guy, dsc. It's a lil' crude and simple, but sometimes less is more. I may be wrong, but I think it was done in MSFT Paint.

If someone can supply the art, I think I can find someone to make some shirts for us.

there is talk that we'll be allotted a space to use in the indoor contest area. if that's the case (and i'll confirm that ASAP) then we'll be easy to spot. i still promise plenty of non-ideal temperature beers, even if we don't have the blazing vegas sun to raise them to challenging levels.

also, if we have an indoor space, then i will create two categories this year:
    1. fully self-sufficient contraptions

    2. contraptions that run on electric power (from an AC source)

Depending on the circumstances, we might have two categories... self-powered and electric-powered. Regardless, all contraptions must be home-built and not consist of pre-packaged commercial products.

More details to come as soon as we learn things from the contest staff.

yeah, i plan to cover this in a future post when i update the rules, etc (when i get confirmation that we're inside) but my notion was to issue every participating team a 6' x 6' piece of plastic sheeting and a towel. (always know where your towel is!)

there will likely be a rule stating "if you have a small spill... that's ok, since accidents happen. if you have a medium spill, we'll be upset by the loss of valuable beer but we will not hold it against you too much. if you have a large spill or otherwise make a big mess, you'd better have your plastic sheeting in a smart position and use your towel wisely, since you're responsible to the hotel if you can't clean things up adequately."
