- Now for the real news. As we all know, the Splash Bar was replaced some time ago by a bank of nondescript slot machines. As I turned the corner into that part of the hotel, something caught my eye across the room from where it was.



This future Pub was actually supposed to be open by yesterday (June 12, 2010) but per hotel staff was delayed due to construction issues, and is scheduled to be open by the end of next week. Cheerio, mates.

Zac and CJ should feel right at home...or not. Good to see they are putting up somewhere new for the alcomahols. Hope they got all that black mold out.

Well if its anything like the other British pubs I've drank in (outside the UK), its going to be just a marketing gimmick and not very British, but if its less than $4.50 to $6.00 a pint its going to be better than any pub in England. Hopefully they have a good beer selection.

ASTCell is at the Riviera doing some more recon. He has a few updates, and has decided to publish a few video on-line with qik. I'll try to include here what he mentioned elsewhere as quotes attributed to him, but not from posts in the forums. I may not be 100% accurate, but will try to pass on a summary what he he has said.

The information about the pool is probably going to be useful immediately for people that were planning to use the pool as a social spot.

A little more on the Queen Vic; Source is a phone call to the place directly. They are wrapping up interviews for hostesses, servers and bartenders today apparently, hope to be open by next weekend. Here's hoping they can get it done.

THe information about the pool certainly changes my original plans to try to grab one of those pool side suite rooms. What's the darn point now? Feh.

One more reason to hate the riv. first they import bees, now they fence off the pool. Can they be bigger jerks?

1) They didn't import the bees

2) The pool was probably fenced off for liability reasons.

3) None of the above makes them jerks.

There may be other reasons that SOME of the people that work for the Riv are jerks, but most of the people that work there are actually really friendly, nice and happy to see the DefCon attendees.

I recommend their tattoo shop, I had a tattoo there done by one of the female artists and it turned out very well.

I think we should have a contest to see who can get the nerdiest tattoo during con. The only problem is most folks are not sober enough to get one!

The broken record quality of your posts regarding the Riv should lessen.

While many here may not like the Riv policies and some staff choices, they also understand that it does nothing to continue to complain if no constructive criticism is included. Frankly, it's tiresome.

I have actually committed to getting a lock-themed tat at the riv's tattoo parlor if I win either of the main events. I was pretty broken up getting dethroned last year so I'm adding a little motivation.
