It is in /dev/random, that space where few rules apply:

Then the error message is kind of weird. It should be that I have too many privileges, not that I'm not permitted. It didn't occur to me that /dev/random was the problem, actually. I don't recall having that error before, but then, I seldom visit /dev/random, it's true.

Where are my manners? Oh, yeah. In the next cup of coffee.

      Thanks for the quick response.

The Forum "/dev/random" does not even appear unless you are in the "All_Social" group described in the thread on how to join "/dev/random". Searches for new posts don't reveal posts in /dev/random unless you are a member of the related usergroup, either. The default forum error does not adequately describe the process of joining or leaving user join-able usergroups. If you would like to see the error message improved, feel free to make a task for me on the forum projects section, and it will be added to my "to-do" list. All new users since /dev/random was created are automatically joined to All_Social, only users that existed before /dev/random was created were not forced to join it.

I apologize, I tend to post in /dev/random to avoid annoying other members. If any of the mods would like to move it to a better, more accessible place let me know and I'll update the link.

No problem for me on this, but thanks for offering an apology anyway. /dev/random is fine for content like that. I replied with an answer so other people encountering the same problem can follow the thread described.

You are not annoying anyone, it's not like I or anyone else has to read the thread. Someone has to post in /dev/random, might as well be you. :-)

Who needs anything else? Notes can be taken in the phone, internet access too, the rest in pockets. Makes for an easy con. :) I did the whole laptop lugging thing for a few years, that got real tired real quick.

My new murse -- err bag -- came in yesterday. I ended up snagging a Timbuk2 Netbook Messenger off Amazon with Prime. On Amazon it comes in one color: black. The map bags looked sweet, but I've never had much luck with over the shoulder stuff. This one's more like a backpack than a messenger bag, and there's a padded & covered slot for the iPad/netbook/Kindle.

I learned last year really quickly that a rolling bag is NOT the way to go.

                          Re: Defcon Daily Carry

Its all Astcell's fault, Back in 2008 Astcell spoiled me on some really nice, mission specific tactical gear, the construction was bulletproof, the zippers were like nothing I've seen before, so I made it a point to find the original manufacturer for something else 'that works'

                          This really works!

While originally designed as a medical bag for special operations teams, From my chats with other users I understand its being used for lots of other duties, but it fits perfectly an 8.9 notebook and all its gear, and most everything else you'd want to pack along. If you look around online, you can find these a little cheaper than the above link.

                          As for my Defcon EDC...
