I wanted to give everyone a quick update on the status for what’s happening with this year’s BBQ.

- The planning stages have started and I am working on this permit and bribes to get the park all squared away for us.

- Location will be the same (There are no plans to change this just yet since there are very few suitable locations.)

- I would also like to see some event and games organized for the BBQ for everyone to participate in. If you have any ideas or want to run a dodge ball game, Frisbee golf, Etc. please feel free to post your ideas.

Vandal and I are "all in" on this event with you again this year, just let us know what we can do to help and not just AT the bbq. Money for shirts? Pre-donation for meatses? What? Do tell.

I'll help you all out if you need. I can grab some of the supply's you know the good stuff meat and beer :) Don't ask me to cook I'll burn water... I'm taking a few day's off before the con so I don't miss any of it this year. So far last 2 year's there's always something I miss

Now on to the mission of getting a motorized extended ice chest going so I have a place to keep stuff cool and run peoples feet over... It's hard to get a decent motor that doesn't eat batteries. "Not buying the kit based one that thing is to slow!"

I can help with buying food or cooking! I love to cook (and as a result I love to eat too!) Last year was my first Con and my first Toxic BBQ. I had a blast and want to help out this year!

Hey Guy’s we have had some major fail with the park. I reserved the spot months and months ago but due to the ineptitude of the staff in their reservation office they neglected to tell me that the park would be closed from July to sometime in 2012 thus they cancelled my reservation was invalid. SO at the moment we do not have a location.

But let me highlight what I’m doing and the good:
- First off I got my money back so they didn’t shortchange us.
- Second I have a lead on two different spots one is actually down the street from the Rio, but these spaces are much smaller and don’t rent to parties over 200.
o To combat this I also have a special request in with the city of Las Vegas and Clark county
o I also have a bid in with the Rio to see if I can commandeer a parking lot.

So at the moment I don’t need help but I will let you guys know as soon as I do, right now I need to work the channels I have to get things in place. I should have an update if not a resolution by next week sometime.

If all other options fail and the Rio won't play, you could try having a parking lot picnic at Gold Coast next door. They have a pretty big parking lot behind the casino/hotel in addition to the parking garage where most people park.

Or, DAMN THE MAN and just do it in the parking lot/etc until we get kicked out, then move a short distance until we get kicked out again. Also consider the AP, if everyone has to bring their own BBQ equipment anyway, we might as well have a pool (until we get kicked out). http://predefcon.org will be at the AP tues/wed/thur anyway!

i'd love to know how feasible it would be at the Rio, either in a portion of parking lot or on their "patio" areas (which will be used for Beer Cooling and possibly some other events)

Vandal and I supposed it would include some kind of "you gotta use our staff" or "sell our booze" or some similar casino bleeding you dry action but who knows.
