Coming in late, apologies in advance.

      Two observations:

      1. Do NOT be a fucktard and announce your intention to operate a pirate radio station, location known, date/time known, in advance. DO NOT show up at the Rio havin' (already) announced your intent and likely attracted the Fox Chicken^2 and carry through. We simply do not need the attention or the distraction of dealing with it.

      2. Streaming out on the net sounds really cool. Cooler would be streaming all the talks (all tracks) (audio at least) live, but it needs a name.

      DEFCAST sounds right to me......

As for the fucktard comment I can guarantee there will be no tard fucking being attempted. Well unless I have a drunken encounter with Corky Thatcher that ill regret when I wake up in the morning, seriously if someone shares a brain storm on a forum of how easy it would be to do something and how easy the logistics of it could be, it seems like everyone assumes they are going to do it. There are idiots out there = FACT. But you'd think ideas would be encouraged in a hacker culture just not the implementation of said ideas... like always.........

Sorry had to get it off my chest. About DEFCAST, I love the name but my question is this late in the game if someone isn't set up to stream all of them already. It would take a couple more servers and laptops to broadcast them out to the world. You think it can happen or have any more resources? I think hosting will be an easy thing to come up with but the stream broadcasting units might be a bitch unless someone has a pallet of Eee PC's laying around.

          Defcast is a Symantec app.

If you really want to know something... Contact the people who are running DefCon Radio (like Xodia), directly.. If you did, you would know that they are good to go, last I heard (mobile units, mics, servers, network stuff from locks team, etc...). They start broadcasting on Thursday. Do a little leg work next time instead of just posting to the forum and expecting people to come to you, especially when it's a few days before Con and everyone is busy getting all their shit in order.
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts, And I looked and behold: a pale horse. And his name, that sat on him, was Death. And Hell followed with him.

Stop by the contest/events area, Darkcreature. Everyone is overthinking this a bit, lol. Shoutcast streaming isn't really rocket science. We never set out to stream talks, as that would be stepping on the toes of the Defcon media archive. This is all purely supplementary material for people at the con, and a fun place for people to have value added discussion.

All will make sense once you get there.
