Leonard, right? Yeah, he's spoken with us a number of times about bringing new workshops to his event in Texas. Very personable fellow.

I'm so pleased to hear that Brad's wife is optimistic. That means a lot, and i look forward to more news soon.
"I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

For those of you who may have missed the tweet or wherever your source of information is, here is where Nina will be keeping us updated as often as possible:

Also, to answer the question who out of the Hacker Halted folks did this (DT's allusion) - Leonard Chin (Vice Chair of the EC Council) did.

Also Leonard Chin was 1) There when it happened and assisted with first response. 2) Personally assured me that everything would be taken care of within the financial power of the EC Council as far as lodging and transportation would go for Nina - and for as long as she required lodging or transportation.

He made that decision AS EMS put Brad on the gurney, and came through on the commitment in the following days. He stayed at the hospital, kept me up to date via txt up to the moment he had to leave as any new updates came out (prior to twitter, as Nina needed to be informed before the world). H was top notch on all points.

Leonard Chin and the EC-Council are pretty OK in my book. So is Ed and Jose. I heard good developments the last few days, which is helping alot of folks sleep better.

I pray for theNurse's quick recovery. Please donate if you can. Even if it is a buck or two.

Actually Jay Bavisi. He is the co-founder and president of EC Council. But it doesn't surprise me he has real solid people on his team. sounds like Leonard is a keeper!

The nurse from last night reported that Brad purposefully squeezed her hand
              Great news.

That's encouraging. Do they allow visitors in ICU? I'm thinking not, but I might be down in Miami for Thanksgiving and after Xmas.

One can only hope he has recovered by then.

He currently has pneumonia though, which is not so encouraging.

However, he can move his left side, involuntarily, mind. But it's progression towards a recovery, so it's good news.

He also is able to recognise voices now, but is unable to make out what is being said.

                  Promising signs, me thinks.

I find myself still refreshing the updates page at least once an hour. My prayers are with Brad and Nina. Continually. Godspeed.

                      Update #10: 11.13.2011 Day #16

                      Greetings all,
Today was another very good day for Brad. He’s becoming more active, so much so, that he’s been trying to pull out his tubes, so they keep a boxing-glove type mitten on his hand so he can’t get a grip. I can take it off when visiting so he can explore and squeeze my hand. At one point he was moving his finger in time with music that was playing on the TV. It was spontaneous and great! He’s also making visible connections with his eyes and is even smiling when he hears voices – mine, his mom, brother and the nurse he’s had for the past three days. It’s so exciting to see these new changes. Every day he’s getting more and more aware. He’s trying to following commands, but not quite yet, although you can see the effort. I’m so encouraged and so very thankful that he’s awakening. Hoping for more good news to come.

Harry Sr. starts his rehab tomorrow, on his 88th birthday. Hope to spend more time with him to help improve his mood and celebrate. The PT won’t be fun and he’ll probably enjoy the additional attention. Bethene comes to stay with me tomorrow and Harry Jr. leaves for Ohio on Tuesday. So, I’ll be getting a car and she and I will make our way between the apartment, hospital and nursing home for the next while. I’m sure it will all work out very well for both of us. One thing I know for sure, we’re all very tired and probably could sleep for a day or two just to catch up. But still hanging in there and taking one day at a time.

                      Love to all,
                      Nina & Brad

Oh no!!! So sorry to hear about his dad too! I hope he heals up well. :(

I have to admit, though, I had a pretty solid chuckle on reading that Brad's trying to yank out his tubes.

                        Good vibes, brother.

                          Re: theNURSE...

I visited Brad at the VA Center in Miami for a few days in February, and am in occasional contact with his family in Helena. He was transferred to a facility in Helena recently, and a new website has been created for updates/info/memories/etc. While his wife Nina has been great with providing info via http://www.social-engineer.org/brad-smith-updates/ it's taken a great deal of focus and effort on her part (which we all appreciate) so now a new site has been created and is maintained by a family friend in Helena so Nina and Brad can go about the business of recovery, finding a new home, and adjusting to the new lifestyle. Check it out: http://www.bradthenurse.com/index.html
