      Wait a minute... Rio... Chippendales...

DT, did HighWiz have anything to do with the decision to move to the RIo?

Nice one HighWiz! We owe you a ticket to the show!

looks like most things that need to be said has been said.

Go to DefCon, there really is no reason not to.

I flubbed for 19 and didn't have the cash on hand to go. That was my mistake and I won't be doing it again.

It is recommended for anyone who is into any kind of hacking.

There are people who know a little bit about everything and others will crush you with their massive brain. Point is there is more than any person can learn in one time just walking around the con. Also there are other events that aren't tech and aren't parties. Toxic BBQ (border line) the DefCon shoot come to mind. Just show up, you will have the time of your life... just apply yourself and you will have fun.

The Pro's take credit cards and issue receipts for your expense report.

The Locals headcases are cash or barter only. Use a cabbie receipt for them.

He prolly wants to hook up with a classic scene ho anyway....... clorox and steel wool are your friends, and be sure to check for bees.

Re: Should I go to DC20?

One of the problems you will have being 18 is getting hassled if you deviate from the path through the casino (presuming you stay at the Rio). You will miss out on "some" social events, or other hosted parties, but there's plenty of fun to go around.

Wish I had the cash when I was 18 to do something like this - you will easily need about $1500 or so unless you are sharing a room.

Avoid the *snappers* on the strip. When they say they will get a girl to your room in 30 minutes, they will. But - that only gets her to the door long enough to claim the $60-75 delivery fee. The typical scenario is they then try to talk you into other services like a private dance for a couple hundred cash up front, then get an urgent phone call where they say they have to leave - and then bolt with your cash.

              So I've heard...

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. This applies to making babies, hacking, and youtube videos.

Bees and fire are this years theme, as some people may have missed defcon 14...

I think we will be do another run of "Defcon 14: OMG BEES!" shirts

Do not let age hold you back. There is soooo much more to Defcon than just the parties. You realize some people bring their little kids to defcon. Defcon is about meeting people and learning new things, not just about parties.

Wondering if there are parties at Defcon is like Noah wondering if it is going to rain.

Defcon virgin here, and being on the other side of the continent definitely does not help at all, every time I mention Defcon to person he just stares at me, or thinks that is a local rap band. Btw do you guys still do that bug juice thing?

                            "Should I go to DC20?"

No you should not come to Defcon 20. Everyone should just stay home so those that don't even have to ask that question can enjoy ourselves without the huge crowds.

It can be, but a thread like this appears on the forums each year, and it is easier to just let the thread run its course until the pre-defcon planning forum is closed to allow for the post-defcon recovery forum, and a new pre-planning forum next year when someone creates a thread like it for the next Defcon.

This is much like the recurring, "stay hydrated," thread each year, and a few others that become recurring themes for each "Defcon Planning Forum."

On the plus side, we seem to get about 30%-50% turn-over in users posting answers to each years' thread, which increases the chances for a new idea to surface in each discussion.

                                Consider DaKahuna's reply... :-)

(It is the same argument I have in agreement with keeping "Defcon TV" and speakers tracks piped to hotel rooms: it removes people from the crowd, and make lines shorter.)
