Forums created for "Project 2" and "DEFCON Darknet" 2 nights ago, and forums for "OCTF" , "DC101" , and "DEFCON Robots" tonight.
I think I am now caught up with the forums to be created for contests, events and social gatherings mentioned above here.
Please let me know if you announced your plans to return above here but have no forum
Thanks!Leave a comment:

Hi. Thanks for emailing me about this, TheCotMan, you really go the extra mile.
Project 2 is now being run by catatonicprime and slackish (and someone else whose forums name I don't know). I'll make a longer post in the Project 2 forum in case people want to know more.Leave a comment:

I have nothing in public, but the previous forum organizer for Project 2 says the one that posted here is the new organizer for Project 2. Will be creating forum for it tonight.Leave a comment:

Re: Contests, Events, Parties, Social Gatherings: Are you planning to bring it to DC2
All created except for:
* DEFCONBOTS
* Project 2
* OpenCTF
DEFCONBOTS: waiting for email confirmation from Kallahar or after Pyr0's RFI and approval from Pyr0.
Project 2: Waiting on email confirmation from previous contact on running this contest previous years: Zephyr
OpenCTF: some research is needed to find the status of this, and which forum to duplicate from last year, or decide to just wait for Pyr0's decision.
Sorry about the delays on these.
Pyr0 has a tweet from a few weeks back saying that he is expecting the RFI process for Contests and Events to get approval for use of DEF CON resources like space, power, program, services would be in January. When I find out about the opening of the RFI, I'll email all of you by your forum-registered email addresses a notice of the process, he and his team will announce.

Re: Contests, Events, Parties, Social Gatherings: Are you planning to bring it to DC2
Because this would be a change in management, I need to check with Kallahar to see that he selected you to take it over before I make a forum. You will still need to fill out the RFI data that Pyr0 asks for. If you have questions about what to do to get rolling, feel free to ask. If Kallahar does not respond, but Pyr0 gives you a green light, I can make a forum, too.DEFCONBOTS will be returning in 2014 after a 5-year hiatus.
The competition will be a real version of tower-defense. Competitors will build autonomous robots to shoot lasers at moving targets on a track.
More info: www.defconbots.org or https://github.com/Defconbots
The competition was previously run by Kallahar, from 2002-2008, and with his blessing it's being revived.
Sending email to Kallahar.Leave a comment:

Re: Contests, Events, Parties, Social Gatherings: Are you planning to bring it to DC2
The last updates on the forums I see about this contest were made by forum user zephyr. I've sent an email message to the email address they have associated with their forum account to confirm this. Sorry to hold creation of this forum up, but I want to make sure you are associated with this contest....
You see, social engineering is a risk at a hacker convention. :-)

Re: Contests, Events, Parties, Social Gatherings: Are you planning to bring it to DC2
OpenCTF has a history of drama in the space of "changing ownership"
There were two competing OpenCTF and then a risk for a third, each run by different people. The end result was most of them never even happened. I don't know the present state of "OpenCTF" and "who 'owns' the title for running the contest" so if a forum is created for this, it is with the understanding that the name may have to be changed, depending on the decisions made by Pyr0 and his department, and if you do not submit your information to Pyr0 and his team and get them to approve it, I'll close the forum for it.
The forums for contests, events and social gatherings follow the decisions of Pyr0' Contests and Events department, or when under DEF CON Entertainment, GreatScott and sometimes Nikita or Jeff for things that don't fit in either of these departments.
The creation of forums before official opening of RFI is a convenience for those returning contests, events or social gatherings, that are likely to be approved again if their information is submitted to Pyr0 and his team.
Hope this helps!
I still plan to add more forums later tonight.Leave a comment:
