I’m rich! And you are all losers

I hear many IT professionals (on the tv) who were tortured in high skool and have now made it big, brag about how now they are rolling in cash and all the bullies are lined up at the methadone clinic.

You can ask a 30 something year old computer geek about high skool, and you will more often than not get a long list of names and a description of each one of those persons personality defects.

Do the high skool sports stars, bullies, and unattainable girls think about the geeks?
Do you think these people if asked could remember the name of the high skool geeks?

Other than movies, what exactly are you basing this on?
      perl -e 'print pack(c5, (41*2), sqrt(7056), (unpack(c,H)-2), oct(115), 10)'

So the geek has this feeling of accomplishment and winning in the end. What about everyone else? Often the geeks are perpetually irritated with stupid people, and everyone is stupid, and carries that chip around for life. Do the others live a more relaxed and happy existence stumbling through life like big dumb animals?
Someone like Bill Gates, think he’s really happy. Seems to me his life is pretty stressful.
I think the exception would be Steve Wozniak.

At least nowadays the geeks have computers. Feel sorry for us geeks who only had programmable calculators to wear on our hips. We could use all facets of a slide rule, we have decimal conversions of x/32nds of an inch memorized, and no number question was too tough.

On the flip side we wore plaid, played the accordion, didn't get laid until well after high school, and zits never did go all the way away. And don't even ask about muscles, our bodies seemed incapable of producing them.

Where are the football jocks and the cheerleaders now???

No, I mean the so called popular people that everyone seems to think are now living in a van down by the river. What stats are telling you that "most of the people that are popular in high school dont do well and then later in life they get crap jobs and get like 20k a year" (I was really replying to jetforce4004, my apologies for not quoting).

I do know folks who hit their maximum potential at 19 years of age, then there are those who are 60 and have a ways to go. At dinner last night I heard a guy complaining about Social Security and not enough money to love on, the damn government, yadda yadda. He looked to be early 60s. His fault or no?

No. With all the project planning in the world you can hardly release a piece of software with a crew of more than 10 people. I don’t understand how our government or economy works. Maybe its because they don’t really have to answer to anyone, but even that is changing thanks to the web. They cant hide behind their corporate owned newscasts anymore.

I am a lil' high school student, and so far I havn't had to bad of luck selling my skills. If I get lucky I will make money, but I really don't care, as long as I can buy my ticket for Las Vegas, life is good.
