yeah fastrack recently sent out a notify to its users that if they require photo snapshot verification over the transpoder the owner of the transpoder will now get charged extra.

the speeding issue is a very real potential source of gov. income. there is a big toll bridge on the east side of the country. you pay and get a reciept when you get on. when you get off you give them the reciept and they look at your start time. they know how long the distance from start to end is and with remedial math they can figure out that any one that finishes in under a certain ammount of time was speeding. the issue you a ticket and send you on your way. it would take almost no effort or cost to implement an automatic system into fastrak. the cameras are in place. your info is allready stored. and you can be timed with the addition of a reciever at every exit. this would increase revinue ALOT. i think the only reason that they havn't is because they are having a hard time getting people to use the toll roads. if they take away the main appeal (speeding), they will loose what little buisness they have.

I'd just say I lost my ticket, then save it for another day. Make it look like I took a week to get to the other end. :p

I don't know if they use fastrak to issue speeding tickets, but I have heard that they use them in conjuntion with weigh stations to make sure thoose truckers follow the rules(about not driving for 3 days without sleep and stuff)

They couldn't make it issue speeding tickets, otherwise they'd have to change the name to not-so-fasTrak

                    hrmmm

I was reading up a little on this fastrak thing. At first I didnt know what the fuck it was, so I searched for it, then realized what it was. I dont think we have any here in Colorado, and if we do, I havent approached one yet. It seems like something that could be used for an interesting topic at defcon. I would definatly goto the talk to see what it had in store for this topic. I would love to try and get my hands on one to play around with.
