Yes, but this time may not occur if humans destroy their planet first. Humans are the perfect virus in flesh... who knows what utopian realms they will reach in biomechanical form.

Yes, of course... though any type of expenditures based on movement are wasted energy... better to involve the evolvement in a large solid state matter :)

Yes, but there was also heavy support and competition to accomplish this, if my mind is not failing me.

With the emphasis our society places on monetary gain, isnt it easy to fathom that a group of researchers might provide a cure for aids only to have it snapped up by those whos interest is in monetary gain? ex..
Absolutely. My comments were not that shallow :) My point was that there is a difference between making it, and making it happen. When making it, it is easy to keep it under wraps, for reasons of greed, "national security", or whatever factors that may. When making it happen, it becomes too well understood or public knowledge for a given entity to control with these factors, and it becomes prey to competition, which brings it into a more feasible realm. Right this technology is partially on the verged of being discovered, but not even fully that far to qualify it as actually being "made".

Many years before people will be running around with designer memory mods. Just imagine the intense pr0n that could be viewed with one of these! Segway to unrelated comment -> I am not yet convinced that we aren't currently frying ourselves with RF.

I do have a very hard time believing there is not yet a cure for aids, or many of the "untreatable" forms of cancer... The government has much money to gain by taxing and suing the tobacco companies.

That is true with the invention of the carburator that allowed 100 miles to the gallon. I *think* exxon mobile purchased the patent, and still secretly holds it today.
Yes, that is true. I can't remember the specifics, but I think the conservational gain was even greater than that. Can't have any of that, we would need less oil-based fuels...
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

          Quick thought:

If we were able to read minds using wireless comm. and cybernetics, could we implant chips into children at birth and track the world?

Could we also implement *hidden* transmitters/recievers into television sets to function as mind control agents/spyware?

          Are we doing this now????;)

Surely we would not have to rely on technology for thought transfer, this is already built in... though because it has been so rarely used, not many are able to use it correctly or at will.. relying on technology too much will cause these types of problems where technology is chosen over built in fleshisms...

Ahhhh.... And where exactly does Google fit into all of this. How many of us now have a Google dependency?

am i to understand that BW thinks that we all have telepathic capibilities? i don't think so.

and in response to pezzzzz, just because we have "mapped" the human genome and know where all the ACTG's go, doesn't mean that we have the slightest idea what ALL these codons do....

It is true... just because we don't use things we can't remember doesnt' mean they aren't there... the human mind has many mysteries that only few have unlocked and millions more still unknown.

It doesnt quite work that way haxor chique....

Manipulating DNA is not like compiling a kernel where you just randomly switch on and off variables, compile and run. Many millions of combinations of DNA are not viable, thus lost pregnancies and such. Trials of slightly modifing DNA to cure certain diseases has so far yielded horrible side effects, such as death, and lukemia. And thats just manipulating white blood cells of a normal fully developed adult. Even the famous dolly (the cloned sheep) wasnt a true clone. Dont hold your breath for a perfect Pezz copy anytime soon. The world can breathe a collective sigh of relief.

what about pie? if chips implanted into people became popular and m$ created some I know they would find a way of crashing them.

pie is used to create a prime...even pie presents a pattern...maybe one we dont fully comprehend yet, but it does creat a pattern
