    Suppressors?

    Two part question:

Is anyone planning on bringing suppressors? If compatibility works out and you're bringing a .30 cal supressor (Saker 7.62 anyone?), would you be willing to let me shoot a few rounds through it? Obviously, I'd be completely OK with you inspecting my firearm, checking ammo etc.

just to chime in, while I don't have any suppressed gear coming with me, suppressors of all kinds are 100% allowed at the Shoot. we MIGHT even try to have a little fun in-between sessions (if logistics allow) to let people try to demo the reduced reports (sub-sonic ammo, anyone?) of rounds going through their suppressed firearms.

I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

I believe it would be very educational to have a demo where you shoot supersonic ammo through a supressor so people can hear the sonic crack, then a subsonic round to show the difference. Also, the difference in sound of a supersonic, 9mm, .223 and .308 round (bigger surface area/speed). When I do ad-hoc demo's for people, it always gets positive reactions, and hey, its Science :-)

I can bring a Gemtech Sandstorm or Quicksand .308 supressor, and either my SIG716 or SA58 (FAL) Para rifles that have the Gemtech bi-lock adapter for the Quicksand. The Sandstorm is a screw-on and is currently on my 300 BLK rig, but I can unscrew it if needed (unless someone wants to shoot the 300 BLK). I will also have a .223 supressor for the M16/M4 and a .45 and 9mm supressor there also. I could bring a supressed Ruger MII if needed :-)

Awesome! Probably no *need* to bring the Mk2, but if you do, I can contribute a couple boxes of ammo to the pot. :) Is the suppressor integral?

i've been considering getting a 300 Blackout upper (or maybe just a barrel) and would be very interested in how it performs.

BTW, anyone have opinions there? I've been interested in an AAC upper for a while, and i have a nice lower all built that needs a mate. ;-)

Yes, the Ruger MII is an integral supressed weapon. I have two really, one made by Serbu (Siris) and one made by Doug Melton (SWR). Both are very quiet.

Deviant, I'll bring the 300BLK rig on Wed night and you can shoot that also. It's a 10.5" barrel rig on an SBR lower with the Gemtech Sandstorm supressor.

Which one? I have one built from a Mossberg 500 receiver...if you've got the 870, I'd love to look it over.

I have the Mossberg one as well, wanted the 870 as well then my dealer stopped carrying them.

Bummer. Still a fun time. One of my friends refers to it as 'cooler than having two dicks'

Will that friend be at the shoot? Because if he likes the Serbu, he will love something special I'm getting for this year....

He's not coming to Defcon, unfortunately. He's in a different industry.

He would agree more days than not. He does get to work on some of the baddest weaponry on the planet though, so...
