You know, you can call Serbu direct and order anything he still makes, then have him send it to a local dealer for transfer.

Not in California. AOW's are considered pistols, and Serbu's stuff isn't on the DOJ Safe handgun roster (for which there are almost no loopholes any more). And suppressors are completely verboten except for police/military (in the scope of their duties only) and FFLs. Additionally .50BMG weapons are assault rifles and SBS/SBR/MG are forbidden similarly to suppressors, although you can get exceptions for them (for films, etc).

I'm sorry too. I console myself with thanks that I don't live in NYC or New Jersey.

I live in California. We can have AOWs, the Serbu Super Shorty will transfer as a SSE. The ban on SSE last year was for semi-auto only. Pumps, revolvers, and others are still eligible. As the .50BMG is no-go we get the 416 or 510 DTC.

That was my interpretation of the law also, but I can't find any shops that agree with me.

Many shops do not want to risk anything "different" becaus the laws are so screwy. For $5 you can get an AOW tax stamp and you are good to go.

It's $200 to build it yourself, $5 is only for the transfer. And you still have to do the engraving. Still, not bad.

Engraving if you build it yourself. I'd rather get an AOW already built by a reputable manufacturer and guaranteed to work as intended.

I'll talk to you more about why I Form 1'd at the shoot.

                        I am planning to bring:

                        All SilencerCo :
                        Sparrow 22
                        Osprey 45
                        Saker 7.62
                        Salvo12

All are, as of yet unfired, so I am hoping to correct that this weekend, just to make sure I have all the necessary adapters and stuff. I don't have any subsonic ammo, but I may try to pick some up if I have the time between now and the shoot.

i'd love to screw a can or two on my Ruger 10/22 one of these days and test out how it performs and how it sounds. time to finally purchase one for real one of these days.

I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

I'll try to remember to throw my (somewhat crappy) huntertown arms can in my case. It is no sparrow but it works pretty well considering the price.

It is set up for the MAAD mounts (Muzzle Brake and Trifecta stuff). I also have the direct-thread 5/8-24 adapter.
