It's been a while since I posted an update. We have a few things in the works for forums.

- We have just upgraded the forums to support QUIC / http3 / H/3 so hopefully it will feel a bit more responsive. Please let us know if you notice anything different!

Next:
- We plan to move forums to new hardware
- We plan to do a fresh install of forums and fix some of the theme problems.
- I'm thinking of simplifying the number of sub-forums to streamline everything, but we can talk about that before it happens

We have some last-minute maintenance on the forums starting at 10:30pm pacific time, expecting to last until 11:59pm pacific time.

This work was finished at 3:00am Pacific time, PDT, UTC-7, America/Los_Angeles.
One of a few changes included disabling brotli support which caused problem on https://defcon.org/ with long-term reliability and stability.

Forum software has been updated:
* Gallery Channels allow users to share images. (We are not sure how these will be used, so what you see in features may change over time; features may be limited or non-existent over short term.)

Forum Maintenance is planned for Saturday, March 15, 2025 from Noon until around 8pm, pacific time. We expect several interruptions to service and one long interruption that may last an hour.

Forums suffered a DB issue today (October 27, 2027) leading to loss of access to forums for around 4 hours starting 6:14am pacific time. We understand the cause, and are working to verify the DB recovery did not result in loss of posts.

Assuming things work as planned, expect a 3-5 minute service interruption to forums and most DEF CON network services for network equipment maintenance:
Expected to happen some time between 8:00pm and 9:00pm pacific time, Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
