Fo you mac users out there... Connect USB-C to USB-C and then run ls /dev/cu.*
you will get something that is tty. something
after you have that run screen /dev/tty.usbmodem (with some random numbers) and hit enter and you will connect

I can't give too much away, but we're doing what we can to make badge stuff work remotely.

Fantastic job on these boards - love the art work!

When assembling my buttons after inserting the paper cut outs, one of mine just crumbled with very little pressure. Click image for larger version

Do you know if DEF CON was provided with extra parts for replacement of parts that were broken?

They have extra keycaps right now. Other replacement parts will have to wait, sorry.

Had same with one of my keys. Figured the customs guys had a lil fun inspecting the package. Lil superglue and I was able to make a workable repair. hope you can get a replacement or can fix it enough for the con.

I assume I need a USB-A to USB-A cable to use the badge?

No, USB-C to connect it to your computer (the other end will depend on what port your computer has). The USB-A port is for connecting to other badges.

Also, if you want to connect to it in linux, there's a lot of options, screen is one of the easiest I find:

          sudo screen /dev/ttyACM0 9600

Note, if you want to avoid using sudo, you can set your user to be part of the group (in my case, dialout) that owns that device. Ctrl+a Ctrl+/ will disconnect you.

pdaddy any chance you would be willing to post the files somewhere?

I won't have a badge until I get to pick mine up in person in Vegas.

Super happy to get my badge….super sad that one of the connectors on the side was in the bubble wrap…and one of the key switches was broke..already changed the colors of the keys…cool badge over all.

One of my connectors was snapped off, and the USB A is bent as well... my post workers tend to be rough with bubble mailers! They seem to be blue Gateron plate mount switches, so generally available/replacable. Likely can't buy less than 10 though, so you'll get some extras :)

Same one of the male connectors on the side broke and was floating around in the bubble wrap. Everything else seems to be ok

I'm attending virtually this year, and would like to collab with a team on the badge challenge. Also interested to see the GOON/PRESS/PRESENTER badges; looks like the badges connect together to form a mural and probably spit out a completed cipher when you mount the filesystem. I have some other observations for anyone looking for a team mate.

I'd be up for working on it together, kind of a DEF CON noob myself but more than willing to experiment, I am attending virtually as well.

What kind of cable should we bring to connect badges together at the con? USB-A to USB-A?

On the back of my badge the binary converts to ASCII 'Red' when read top to bottom, left to right.
