  • How to get contest (BCCC) listed on the official Con Calendar?

We're trying to get the Beverage Contraption Cooling Contest listed on the official con calendar but I can't figure the path to success. If anyone has an answer or a link (I tried searches but to no avail) or a suggestion we would appreciate it!

What is the day and time?
    https://forum.defcon.org/node/241414 claims:
    "In person only
    Friday 1100 - 1400
Maybe something on Saturday if beverage remains and interest exists."

Have you solidified the dates and time?
What is the location for each day?

The location should be somewhere in the contest area. I think we are on the map but I'm not sure about that, I've not seen it.
Times are indeed 1100-1400 Friday and that is Firm.
Don't worry about Saturday. We will only do Saturday if there is beverage remaining and people show up and want to participate and we either don't have time or space on Friday. So they will already know about the time and place for Saturday.

Then you have 2 ways to help with this:
        1) You go through your contest lead, the person/people you worked with to get your contest added as an official contest, and get them to request a change to forum announcement to include an event in the forum calendar, then I add it. If you have changes, you use the same method to assign ToDO or whatever to specify what should be changed.
        2) You make your own forum calendar event on the forums and ask a mod to change the "Event Highlight ID" to something like "Contests" so it can be exported. Any changes you want made should be requested from within the thread for the event, so that when people see your post was edited by me or another mod, they can see the request that was made in public, and know we are not altering your content without permission. Full transparency.

NOTE: if you make your own thread/events, your options to edit are same as posts: 3 minutes to edit after you create it. After that, no more edits.
NOTE: in order for your event to be exported, a forum mod will need to edit the event highlight ID to be one that is exported.
NOTE: if you make your own event(s), it is probably a good idea to include URL to the event description in each, so people can learn more if they find it in the calendar.
NOTE: Also, including a meaningful location is a really good idea. Example: "DC30, Las Vegas, NV in room NAME_HERE"

If you have events on 2 different days, you can make 2 threads/discussions/topics with calendar events, one for each day.

You really should provide date/time start, date/time end, and location, plus a meaningful description if you make such an event.

New calendar events are possible in brand new threads/discussions/topics.

If you would like a walk-through on how to do this:

How to add a poll, or an event to the forum calendar:
        https://forum.defcon.org/node/228321

Be sure to uncheck "all day event" so you can specify start/stop times.

Best to leave the DST option as-is in most cases.

Regular users cannot set an Event Highlight ID.
We only export events without the default event ID to avoid spammers or trolls adding to our exported calendars.
One export (JavaScript) is passed to the main site https://defcon.org/ you see as "Upcoming Dates" (limited count are show from "now" in order from most recent to least.)
Another export (JSON) is consumed by InfoBooth goons that use it for things like https://info.defcon.org/ and Hacker Tracker and more.

        Hope this helps!
