I wouldn't think so, last time I checked modern POS' don't have an Optical Card Reader/Writer...Originally posted by astcell
I wonder if they can be "read" at the supermarket checkout line....
Though who knows what the future holds when it comes to the NID, and the NIDB...http://www.lasercard.com/tech/technology3.htm
The optical card reader/writer is an external SCSI II device. It is accessible in network environments including Novell, Unix and Windows NT when connected to a PC running DOS or Windows NT with LaserCard Systems DOS/Win3.1 or Windows NT device drivers.
The LaserCard reader/writer access time is 3 msec on a track-to-track basis. Error-correction-code is applied during writing to ensure a written data error of less than 10-12, the industry standard for data storage devices such as diskettes and hard disk. Each 4.1 Mbyte capacity LaserCard has 2583 tracks and supports variable sector sizes on a track-to-track basis. This allows the LaserCard to store multiple applications and still have room to add, update and archive files.Comment
