So my friend can't make it this year to DC, but is a big fan of Vegas buffets and ranked them at one time.

Googled the subject and found a few sites.

The buffet at the Aladdin is amazing but expensive. The seafood buffet at the Rio is good too.

a bit pricy at $35+, but i eat my moneys worth in Lobster alone.

I like the breakfast buffet at Caesars. I normally just load up on their turnovers :p

The Aladdin buffet circa DC5 was wretched, but ever since they rebuilt the Aladdin I must concur. $30/head is a bit steep, but worth it.

I'm planning on hitting the buffet at the Bellagio. Sure it's $50/head but from what I understand it's all you can eat Kobe beef.

The stratosphere has a decent sunday champagne brunch, and when I was there in November, they did'nt complain when I took the tray od champagne back to the table with me.

thats the onlu complaint i have with Rio's buffett, for $40, i should atleast get a corona with my lobster....

If you happen to be one of those rare "morning creatures" at DefCon, and if you don't mind taking a cab off the strip:

The breakfast buffet at the Palace Station Hotel is probably the BEST breakfast in Vegas (served from 7-11 a.m.). For $4.99 you can feast on every imaginable breakfast delight, hot, fresh, beautifully prepared, and delicious. The buffet includes an omelet chef and pancake/waffle chef, who will make your food to order while you watch them cook. Very fast, and supremely delicious. The biscuits and gravy are as good as they are in the Deep South. Definitely a five-star breakfast!

In contrast, on the "I'll never go there again" list is the Surf Buffet at the Boardwalk. The breakfast pancakes were inedible. They rattled on the plate, and would be more suitable for skeet shooting. Eggs were dry and overcooked. Bacon and sausage were limp, fatty and greasy. Potatoes were cold. Fruit was not ripe. Orange juice tasted over-processed. The only good thing I can say about this buffet is that the coffee was hot. But you can get better coffee anywhere else.

The breakfast buffet at the Alexis Park is overpriced for what it is. Seems like it was about $11.99 last year. The selection is small, but the food is well prepared. If they'd just add biscuits and gravy to the menu, I might give them another try.

For Dinner, we really enjoyed the $12.99 buffet at Treasure Island. The lines to get in were very long, but the selection of goodies was definitely worth it. The dessert buffet is of gourmet quality, and the choice of entrees, salads, vegetables, and breads was huge. You can definitely exercise your freedom to pleasurably pig out at Treasure Island.

For folks who just want pizza and beer (or other generously sized drinks), I can recommend the Pizza Palace in the Imperial Hotel. VERY reasonably priced, and excellent food. Small and intimate restaurant, no pretentious grandeur. No rude and snobby waiters. Just fabulous Italian food for less than $10. Fast service, relaxed atmosphere, delicious pizza, large drinks, and low prices.

If you want the best cheeseburger in Vegas at non-Vegas prices, go to "Fat Burger," located directly across the street to the east of the Boardwalk. Very "down home," excellent prices, and great food! This is a very popular place, and you may have to wait for a tiny table or a seat at the counter. But the wait is worth it. This place looks like nothing, but it is a hidden gem for burger fans.

I hear the prime rib buffet at Harrah's is good, but haven't tried it yet. Must put that on this year's agenda.

In addition to Palace Station being a good buffet, its a great place to gamble as well. One of those 'locals' casinos that dosent see much traffic other than the senior gambling busses. Good odds on the tables and machines. Friendly dealers. Its a bit far away for a quick run, but if you wanted to go spend a few hours gambling, its a good place.

As far as Fat Burger goes, anyone in SoCal can tell you its one of the best burger places in existance. They just opened one up here in Redmond, WA so I may once again enjoy the simple pleasure of a Fat Burger w/ chilli, cheese, and onions.
