The worst thing to bring would be your church prayer group.

I seem to recall one year where there was a church group at the hotel just as we started arriving.... Can't imagine why they did'nt stay for the festivities

Worst thing to bring? Thats a toss up. I'd say drugs. Its sad that in a state where you can legaly gamble, drink 24/7, bang hookers, and own a grenade launcher, getting caught with a joint will land you in county and then off for a minimum sentence in the pen. I dont agree with the girlfriend thing, I think its only bad if she's not into this. I'd say the same about bringing your boss, depends on who he/she is. To add to the list of worst things to bring, I'd say anything nice or valuable. Every year some poor fucker loses/destroys/has stolen a brand new laptop he just bought specificaly to take to Defcon and show off. Sometimes you get shoved in the pool and your radio gets damaged too.

Another update from the local:

they took down that stupid sign (as featured in Fear and lothing) and the joint crack down is now just like everywhere else, minimal. People spark up at concerts here, on streets, walking through casino's (ok maybe just Nevada palace, which is lame and out in BFE). So that's more passe myth.
