    Timeshare

Theres a timeshare in town thats willing to put people up for $100 at Hawthern Suites, AP, The Sahara, or the Riviera. The only condition is that you attend a 120 minute presentation at some time during your stay. The only reason Im mentioning them is because I did the timeshare trip once, and thay do some nice accomodations for $100 flat, and they refund that to you as soon as you coplete the presentation. The only problem is that they tend to take a week or so to contact you once you fill out the form at travelgratis.com, so you will need to call them at (702) 892-0201 (after 1pm pacific time) and say you are returning a call from somebody about the travel gratis program. Remember, you DO make atleast $60,000 per year when they ask.

    Good luck.

Also, the parent company is Pacific Monarch Resorts.

I ended up staying at the Howard Johnson.

I think I'll stay at the Alexis Park next year. The shuttle buses were rather irregular (from what I have experienced at least, but I then gave up and did the taxi thing)...

The Howard Johnson looks deceivingly closer to the Alexis Park than what it really is.

There are MANY hotels better than the AP that are in walking distance. We stayed at the St. Tropez this year instead of the AP as we usually do. I was SOOOOOOO happy with their service, and my room was closer than many of the back buildings at the AP.

I also stayed in the Howard Johnson. It was clean (more or less), and just about what you'd expect from a place in Vegas off-strip.

The shuttle was a bit of a joke, though. I ended up walking to the AP and back most of the time. Between that and walking around the strip, my feet are only now recovering.

However, if it's at the AP again next year, I'm getting a roommate and shacking up at the AP. It would have been worth some extra coin to be able to watch the sessions in my room.

The best cost of Hotel of course is ... Free. Next year my roommates and I will offer one lucky individual the (dubious) honor of becoming $lackey. This individual will have free stay at a room in the Alexis park with their own room key for free. The only way they pay is to make all the beer runs, ice runs, minor chores... we had one this year and it worked out great for everyone involved. The dude (Citadel) was very cool.

So if you're looking for a free place to stay next year (with a free $lackey t-shirt to boot and moderately free alcohol) keep an eye out for the $lackey thread in the room forum.

Here is a little trick that I learned from a New Yorker.

If there are cabs in line. Talk to the 1st guy. Ask how much it would cost to take you to wherever.

Then walk to the next cab and say so-and-so claims he could get me to here for this, can you beat his price.

They will quote you something under and get in the cab and go.
