      Good attempts so far

Definitely impressed by the sacrifice that is willing to go on here. So, the leading contenders include a bag of Doritos (if still available) and a box of AOL CDs.

Come on now, you all can do better than that! Although, I am intrigued by the idea of someone letting me own them with a can of spraypaint :D

Keep the thread going with offers or other stories!

          Topical, but questionably entertaining .

            redhook

If you give redhook a badge, i've got a bottle of mescal with a worm in it that I'll give you. Imported from mexico!

            Let's add a twist here:

You get the mescal, but make redhook eat the worm to earn the badge. With my proposition, you get booze. Redhook has to eat a worm. Everybody wins.

I know that redhook really wants to go and he really doesn't have the money. He has mentioned on IRC that if somebody wanted to help him financially to just buy admission that he'd love to go. He is a person who is genuineley interested in learning, and would make a good charity case.

How about this "sad story" plus it's true, I work for a socal University ( have id to prove), and with all of the budget cuts that we have suffered, I can't even get parking validation ( we have pay to park!! ). If that wasn't bad enough the state can't even pass a budget and if we don't have one by August 31 ALL state employee will be paid minimum wage So, As you can see I am trying to save every penny I can. This e-mail may not be as entertaining as DarkStar's & Ripshy e-mail, but it's the truth.

                my 2 cents!

Whoa, hold on a minute, I'm not providing a badge AND meals! ;)

Seriously though, you should make a stronger case for yourself if you really want to attend.

                    1. Would you be interested in bartering for art? (i.e I have a painting
I wouldn't mind trading for a defcon badge. I'll take a picture of it
with my webcam if that remotely raises your eye brow.)

                    2. A Russian coin from the early/mid 20th century.

                    3. I'll do your chemistry homework.

Well I had a trip to the hospital a little over a month ago that has costed me $1200. I'm also having a hard time finding a job (had two interviews out of about 30 places I've applied at). So a free badge would be nice.

Wow, I think Darkstar and I got carried away. I am pretty much serious about everything except for the spray paint, but I do have a double wide sharpie! Since there was some mention about an interesting story, Here it goes:

A few-few years ago, before I knew anything about defcon (im only 15) I was switching through radio stations one night and came across a station that I had never heard before playing all techno music. It was somewhwere in the low 90's and I really, really liked it. Amazingly, the next day It was gone. I had no clue what was going on. Whats so remarkable about this is that I just made the connection to dc radio.

See? By helping ym get to the con you will be reuniting a boy with his memories, as well as get something cool.

How about 1 year of webhosting?

I own a 1U box which is hosted at the Equinix datacenter in L.A. I offer webhosting for my clients and friends. The box is on a 100Mbit connection and there are very few users on it.

                            Here's what you get:

                            shell account w/ssh access
                            ftp access
                            dns hosting via tinydns
                            apache w/php
                            mysql database
                            perl, cpan, cgi-bin
qmail mail hosting with 5 pop/imap accounts
                            optional spamassassin mail filtering
unlimited disk space (within reason of course)
                            1Mbit of transfer (over 250GB a month)

Money isn't a issue for me, but I would be glad to take a badge off your hands in trade for some nick nacks to save me $75.. Lets see.. I could give you a model car of the Duke boys General Lee in its original packaging. That could be a few hours of fun. How about a Wanted by the FBI poster of Osama Bin Ladin I found at the post office about 6 years ago.. Even better yet I could brush my moms 3 dogs and put all the left over fur in a nice brown paper bag with a picture of Roger Rabbit drawn on the side of it by yours truly.. I also have a bag of Easter candy that has been sitting around for a few months now that I would be willing to part with..

That last post just reminded me of something I have. In my posession, I have, a box of CNN's Time Capsule, 100 defining moments of the year, cds from 1993. One of the events covered is the first bombing of the wtc. It could be yours.

While looking for the cds, I also discovered an old harddrive. it is an IDE, but is not labeled with size. The Compaq Spares part number is 122080-001. This is the HD from the first computer *I* owned. Im sure It still has windows 3.1 on it, and its most likely less than 500-1000 megs.

So far, I have not found the cds, but just found another item while looking for them. On AMD k6-2 350mhz processor. Nw THATS cool, dontcha think?

Jeez, I never knew how much shit I really have. I am also able to give you the choice of a Playboy magazine! WOW!!! Or a cd full of porn. Or the ENTIRE suicidegirls.com image collection on CD (legally obtained).
