If you screw up in there, do everything you can not to be seperated from the military with those. Then, unlike checking military or vet section you will have to explain to people why you have it.

Less that Honorables discharges (General, e.g.) can be upgraded after about 90 days. They do that due to legal fees they military gets hit with when folks complain. I was an MP and if you went AWOL and were caught in 30 days you were given a dishonorable. if you were gone for over 30 days you were a deserter, and that got you a General discharge! All your discharges are explained in various charpters. You do not want to get out under Chapter 5 or 13, even if Honorable, it means the military doesn't like you. They also have Separation codes, usually three letter abbreviations that say why you were seperated. They could mean anything from "Completed Term of Service" to "Bedwetter." Look yours up. Lastly is the RE code. This is the re-enlistment code. There is RE-1A, 2B, 3, 4D, and 4F. Everyone has heard of 4F. 1A means you can come back. You need a waiver for the others. Hence, if you hand your DD214 to someone like me, don't expect me to believe you were a Major in SFOD-D if your DD214 says 71L10.
