I would sugegst the Round Table @ Stoney point, but alas, it's now been turned into a Taquaria, like most of the SW part of town. We used to hold the old M.O.R.E. (B.E.E.R. to some of us), whic was the old Modem Users Groups of the Redwood Empire. It would have been fitting.

We had the reunion meeting in 2000 at the RT in RP, then there's always the RT in Montgmery Village. They actually have some decent rooms there, various sizes.

NEVER NEVER NEVER use Aroma. That place sucks. Back in 94 there used to be the Cafe This vs Aroma war. Cafe This was wicked cool. Aroma Stinks. Besides, large bohemian hippy coffee place with stupid live music does not make for a geek meet. I'd say use The Belvadier on Mendo, but it's 21+. :)

(No, I didn't grow up in that god forsaken town, whatever gave you that idea?)

I'd like to show up, but Fridays are pretty much a wash for me. NOt that I'd want a meeting moved on my part, Saturday would be better.e Possibly make it a late afternoon type meetings, that way all th soccar kids have cleared out of the parlor, and they would love the business. The problem is trying to get somewher eon a friday evening when you work, can be a pain.

I do have some cool wireless toys I've been playing with here at work... namely the dumb downed Linksys game adapters. They are basically a multi-config'd bridge, and would set up an ad-hoc web network between 2 or more computers. Very very cool, as they are preset with WEP, and you can change the passphrase very easily....

        Anyway... more later...

No worries, due to my plans, I probley wont be able to have the next meeting for another week, cause the other guys that usually help out cant come either...I will make sure when a date is settled that it gets published all over the net. It was a good idea to make it standard, but until I can see what works for most people, it is up in the air....I still need to get dc707.org....damn lack of money....its comming tho...just give it some time.

              Gads.

I remember when Tron tried etting up a SR 2600 meeting, and was told piss off becase the SF one was only 50miles away and far more established.

So he got a Blacklisted411 bmeeting in the back of that 2600 ripoff: Meeting place was the Fountain inside the mall.

Once again: Aroma stinks. Use a Pizza parlor. Pizza & beer == good hack discussion. Coffee and crappy non existant food == hippies.

Incidently, I was up ther ethis weekend. Had there been a Sat afternoon meet I'd have been all over it.

Saturday evening is alot more possible for me, I personally think a round table pizza is a good place, plus the pizza is good, and they serve beer.

saturdays sound alright. infact, i think we could get a few more people to show if that were the case. especially since a few are highschool students.

sonic.net (my isp) does have wireless throughout downtown for customers, and they also have instruction on how to set up accesspoints for other customers to share.

I don't know who all has sonic up there (should be everyone caus ethey kick ass) but it's an option if we find a pizza place with coverage. There's no RT's in down town though. Only ones I can think of with good meeting sots, centralized is Montgomery Village, or Rohnert Park.

As for Down twn, there's Pizza Vera, not that great though. I mean, downtown SR sucks ass. Seriously. Heh, the Chinese place hat used to be Monas. :) I miss Mona's cooking. She was the Bomb diggity yo.

You'd know the WiFi areas up there better than I would.

When I left, wifi was still a new thing that nobody understood.

I heard Sonoma State U. was a great meeting place, not that I have any bias or anything towards it....

SSU is a big campus. We need to find a specific place for the meet. Personally I think a place in Rohnert Park would be cool. (Mostly because i live out there, hah)
