i kinda like those huge ass sonys, but it's not all that portable, and thats probably a good thing since they seem to break if you try to take them with you to places(not that durable). You need to be a little more specific, what do you want it for?

            light laptop?

Yeah, it's an old thread, but I thought this was most appropriate here anyways. Do ppl have suggestions for a light laptop? My friend is looking for one (probably used) and I haven't had the time to google for hours for him. What do ppl like? I've seen several cuties from sharp, but don't know how that brand holds up. 5lbs or less, doesn't have to be top end at all, oldish is ok too.

Macs and Sonys are light, but not very tough.

does anyone here actually have an one of those powerbooks. I used one for about a day and I found it to be completely unbearable. It didn't feel right, I just felt kinda shitty. not to mention how many problems I had wih OSX. I guess my expectations were too high coming from FreeBSD.

Has anyone played with linux on a tablet? I read on http://www.tabletpcs.net/ that http://www.stepupcomputing.com/ is going to have Lindows tablets... personally i don't think i would ever get a tablet, I like portables to have everything built in and ready to go and be able to boot off anything.

If money was not an object I cannot decide if I would get the smallest and lightest laptop ever or the biggest heaviest fastest laptop ever.

Do we have a board here when I can sell my toughbook, I added Mandrake to the 2nd drive and kept W98SE on the first. I don't think I can wait to DCXI.
